Conditions should be great at Beech for you. It's not looking like we'll be able to make it, I'm still working on the car :( I've heard there's an Inn in Foscoe that's nice and fairly priced, but that would be an additional drive if you're coming from the south. $170/night for a Best Western is a lot unless you're splitting it up with a few people. |

SH, I'll be there this weekend... I have a wedding that I may or may not attend Saturday, so I'm 50/50 there, but Sunday is a definite. I'll be wearing the same jacket that's in the pic I posted earlier in the thread, riding a K2 Jibpan most likely and probably Oakley Crowbars with blue iridium lenses. Say hello if you think you see me... I usually ride the high quad.

Beech was pretty good yesterday. Kinda crowded during the day but the night was really good. They had about 1.5 of fresh snow which made the runs really good. And the park was not crowded and made for some fun

Looks like NC may be getting about 6-12 inches of freshies this weekend...almost perfect riding conditions. Now if only the slopes will not blow during the day since we have such a great base.

+1. If the high is only 20F they WILL be blowing, it would be stupid of them not to after the beating the slopes took from the Holiday crowd. |

What I've been told/noticed is that they try to blow more during the week when less people are there so they won't have to blow on weekends. And since the reference was for the weekend, I responded as such. Of course, one never really knows if they will or not, but... Blowing + larger crowds = more hazards I'd rather them blow 24/7 if it would keep the base there longer into the spring...

Strick-9, Whats up?
We missed the run but had a blast. Lots of fresh snow, but bu the time night fell it was extremely windy and as you know....COLD. I have to invest in better goggles. Mine were either fogging over or freezing up. And they are almost impossible to see out of at night. Can anyone reccomend a good pair of goggles? I found some at a shop up near Sugar but they were 140 bucks, any help with this would be great. |

SH: Try Whiskey Militia...I just bought a pair of Dragon Rogue's on there for $35...which are normally around 125. They usually sell Phenoms from Smith, A Frames and other great goggles that are a year or older. It just sucks waiting on them to pop up...
You could also try Oakley Vault....they have some Crowbars from last year on there right now (Rootbeer color & matte black) for 45, and they generally sell for 135. |

The SkiSE official Summit is Jan 22nd, so a bunch of us will be there. Went to Beech yesterday since it was a Raleigh snow day and conditions were AWESOME. But, it was our 1st day this season and I haven't gotten my snow legs back so I was falling all over the place. I seem to have forgotten how to do toe side turns :( |

Superorb..... We will be getting to Beech around 2pm on the 4th of Feb. We have 10 people in our group and I was wondering if you would be interested in going in with us on a group rate for tickets? I think we would need a total of 15 people. Just a thought, it saves each person like 20 bucks i think. Let me know and we can get something figured out.
Strick-9.... You are right about that, not too many boarders around these parts. I do play golf every now and then, if you can call it playing....... mostly hunting for the ball. Anyone use that GOPRO HD Camera? I might get one, but I want to make sure I get the right one and the right mounting hardware. |

Kona, we were at Beech this past weekend and they were requiring 4 wheel drive or chains. It was pretty icy. Sugar should be a little easier to get too Id think.

We're only riding Mon-Fri so the group rate does not apply to weekday rates. Group rate is $40 with 15+ people for the day session on weekends. Only 3 in our group so it wouldn't be enough people for the group rate anyways. |

Something you might want to check into are the coupon books. You pay for the book in advance and then tear off a voucher and exchange it at the group ticket office for a lift ticket. It works out to $50 per ticket which is $10 off the normal weekend rate. |

http://www.skibeech.com/coupons.html They need to be redeemed at the group ticket office, NOT the ticket booths. It's a new policy that hasn't made its way onto the website yet. |
