You're referring to the shipping reimbursement idea or the program in general?

this is a great organization to give children an opportunitiy to snowboard. Sadly l cannot donate my goods because they are brand new (l'm a 1yr exp snowboarder). I wish that the event is successful and more children gets to try out the sport

Donating old gear to give to low income families with children that never had an opportunity to go snowboarding is a really good idea.

Sounds like a great program, but the shortest board i have is a 158. I don't know if any kids could use that. Also, could donated gear be used as a tax write off like donating your car?

There are some big kids around here, believe me. Any donation can be a tax write off. I'd definitely send a receipt of some sort stating that an individual has donated x item(s) estimated value of $xx.xx. That could be used as a write off for sure. Another good point! Thanks for that.

Despite this thread's silence, I've got a big update on this. Just moments ago I got a green light from my "home" mountain, Mount Sunapee in NH, that they will sponsor us for 2 sets of lessons for 6 kids and 6 chaperons. I've amassed thus far, 1 snowboard, 1 pair of boots, and two sets of goggles. I'm still looking for more gear to give to kids so all donations are welcome. Things are moving along... I'm stoked!

6 kids selected and matched with their own mentors -- some with boarding experience and some with none. Program is scheduled to start on Jan. 22, 2011!

So the first day of the program is scheduled for Saturday, January 22nd. I've had the kids go out and get people to sponsor their efforts for the program and will put whatever they raise towards purchasing their own outerwear which they will get to keep for themselves after the program's completion. Since the mountain is gonna provide us with rentals, it has alleviated a ton of stress on the financial side of things. Also, by going out and getting their own money, I'm hoping they'll take more ownership of the program and in turn take the program with a degree more of seriousness.

Gonna get them all to take a look at TruSnow.com for gear and see if I can get them involved on the forum as well!

Is there anyway I can donate money to your program? I believe that what you're doing is a great investment into a child/young adults life, not just because these kids get to have an awesome day of fun, but also knowing that there are people out there willing to sacrifice and give a little bit back to those that are less fortunate. I would love to be a part of what your doing with a contribution.
