It took them long enough. But the damage is already done. Seriously, BP made 20 billion dollar profit last year. They are holding out on cleaning and compensating the ppl that are most affected by the spill.

Im from Tampa, and recently I have seen some oil on some of the beaches.

i still remember seeing clips of the BP exec saying "...i want my life back", that was sorta blown out of proportion but pretty insensitive to all the people who've had to their lives affected by the oil spill down there.

Dudes, I want to start with saying that BP is a bunch of assholes. Dont want to get into details but they knew this crap was going to happen way before it did. They just did not care that much. Isn't that shtooked up? The really sad part is that the drilling platform shtook up is actually not a big deal compared to the pumping platform shtook up. The spill like that from a Pumping platform would be over 1000 times bigger and if you research a little you'll see that BP owns a couple of those things :) One of them is in much worst shape than Deepwater Horizon.

Does anyone have anything positive to say at all? First you complain that the oil is still leaking. Then you complain after is is stopped that it took to long. Then you pull crap out of your ass about how BP is doing nothing to clean up the mess.

Lets all try something okay. Before you start typing some bullshit stop and think for a second. Maybe then you won't post something that you just made up or that you heard from someone that heard it from someone else and really it is just a load of crap.

They have a live feed on the leak. When you use to go to it you could just see the oil flying out, now, it's capped. If you don't believe it, look for yourself

Save your breath. All the holier than thou people don't care about the truth or the facts, all they care about is their opinion that apparently is gospel because they say it is.

the biggest issue is not when and how bp will stop the oil flow. it's what to do with the mess they've made.

any chance the reason why the took so long to plug it was to make more money... as stupid as it sound..BP now has a reason to jack up the prices, and we the PEOPLE can look at it as yeah they have the right to jack up the petrol prices as they spent a few billion on cleaning it up..and the resources has descreased due to the spill..

if you didn't hate BP before(not that i hate BP, i still buy gas from the BP station down the street, 'cause its closest and cheapest), now you have a new reason...Getting convicted terrorist released from jail.

Absolutely not. It is in NO company's best interest to flood oceans with crude oil for 3 months straight. That's a lot of oil that they could've been using to refine into sellable product. Now the oil is wasted AND they're paying billions on cleanup. Doesn't sound like a profitable business plan to me.

It doesn't work like that; BP can't just jack up the price of the oil and foot the bill on us.

Unless there's actual proof to back this up, how could a terrorist have any influence over securing oil deals for BP with the Libyan government? With that said, I wouldn't put it past BP or any other large corporation.

while the well is capped, there appears to be a methane leak nearby on the seafloor. BP had said that they were hoping the pressure in the well would be about 8500 psi to ensure the stability of the well bore. the pressure only went up to 7500...

lets hope this thing doesnt rupture/blowout the sea floor.

why would they want a higher pressure?? l havent been keeping up so l might be lagging behind on my information. yeah lets hope the leak doesnt continue. l was reluntant to go fishing just incase of anything happened to them

Well, they were expecting a higher pressure. Since it's not that high it can mean that the pressure is bleeding off somewhere else = leak. Either that or their guessed pressure was incorrect.

Jus a quick note to 'orb...Least you forget, the Libyan government was(and might still be) a sponsor of terrorism when the Lockerbie tragedy happened, and the terrorist in question was given a state welcome upon his return to Libya.

The lower pressure may also just be a sign that the reservoir is beginning to equalize due to depleting resources in the reservoir.  Not necessarily a leak...which I what I hope is the case.  Once the seafloor is fractured things can get really bad an the reservoir will continue to leak until equilibrium.

I don't even want to think of the politics behind big business and governments.  Pointing out one instance of a terrorist release because a company is in the spot light is only to drum up media attention.  Unfortunately these things happen a lot more than anyone would like to be aware of I am sure (read, this is my theory).

I am fairly certain that many large companies, and many smalls ones, have made some morally and ethically gray decisions in their history.  There are reasons CEO's and Presidents have resigned...

ah ic the reasoning behind the lower pressure and how it might affect the well. you know what though, they probably want it to leak again or else the skimmers will be useless now, not that l want it to, but in their economic mind, its probably the case

Please give your outlandish conspiracy theories a rest. They do NOT want it to leak again, jeez. How would another leak help them? That would mean that they'd have to pay MORE to pay fishermen and skimmers to cleanup more of the spill. I think YOUR mind needs to do a little more thinking ;)

if it leaks again, it should be much easier/quicker to cap this time because they already have the relief well pretty much done.

again, the real problem is the clean up.
