There's fresh snow this week, I can't believe the weather this year. I hope CA is out of the drought by now. Even though I miss the snow, I want to enjoy my summer now.

From what I hear, yeah it's just for the weekend.  I'm hoping there's enough left over for them to maybe open July 4th weekend too.

They closed because of operating costs.  Most of the people going this late in the season are passholders.  If they're not getting the day ticket sales, they aren't taking in any new money, so running the lifts and paying employees becomes a loss.

I don't know what this is so amazing to people.  Mammoth is on 7+ ft of base still, Kirkwood was blanketed this week, 4" of fresh this week is reopening Squaw...

California gets crazy storms.  the end.

Looks like they changed their page this morning.  Some good news for the 10/11 passholders.  Originally  it was going to like $25 for them.

How much snow did they get up in Tahoe?  I was going to head to Mammoth but the storm was kind of a bust there (only 6 inches and probably melted by now).

The snow pack is 143% of normal this year, which is great because CA finally had a non-drought year.  However, one year of above normal water content is not going to offset the many years of drought.  The reservoirs are still way below their normal levels and CA would need several years of this type of snow / rain fall to restore them back to normal levels.  We only have these El Nino years about every once in eight years.

Yup, Donner Ski Ranch is open until the snow is gone, but I hear it's a really small mtn. Thought about hitting that up...but didn't know if it was worth the drive. But now that Squaw is open just for the weekend I know that it will be worth it.
