Depends on the season.  Usually September.  I remember going up Grand Final day last year in September and it was epic.  30cms+ of fresh powder.  Was a freak storm but didn't last long.

Partly my fault, if I had of known it was that week I would've gone the week earlier. I'm planning on buying a board before I go to Whistler early next year, so it would have been perfect.

Instead, I'm going to hire a different size/type board each day if I can and then buy the one I was most comfortable on :D

I'm going to Buller tomorrow at last. Have bought 3 new boards so am going to give the Hero a go. Not that much snow but if I wait much longer the season will be over.

Im from brisbane and have never boarded in Australia. After comparing lift passes i always end up in New Zealand.

Am i missing out on something or should i keep going trans-tasman?

It depends if you like road trips, I love driving, lots of time to talk about everything but if you get nothing out road trips, NZ works out better for a week long trip.

Drive is best i reckon. reckon it ll be like a 6 hour drive, flight then drive will prob be 5 hours anyways.

Going up 16th 17th 18th, fingers cross get some thick powder.

Wasn't it.  Lasted about a day, and unfortunately the base had mostly been washed away the week before but it was amazing conditions for grand final weekend.

Sounds sweet dude... just wondered if I've seen you around.
FYI I was wearing an orange crab beanie that I got from Queenstown, so maybe I'm pretty noticable for my fashion if not for my lack of skills, altho' I do have to say that this season being one that I've done over 10 days I feel my skill improving greatly that I'm confident on blue runs and maybe black.

Ha ha I'll keep an eye for the crab beanie. Don't remember it though.

I think I am fairly noticeable too, I wear a red R.E.D. frequency helmet. It's a nice setup, for me bluetoothing Metallica when getting pupmed for the park and Gorillaz for cuising.

I was with a friend, who dragged me through a number of the blacks that day. BTW Avoid Valley of Sun, that run is a steep mogul ridden pain for most snowboarders.

Thanx for the tip.
I'm sure I'll be seeing you there again, I plan to be there the weekend after, when my gridiron season finishes.

Yeah at this point next weekend seems to be the day for me too. Need to wax and clean up the edges on the banana before then though.

Scrapped a few rocks last week (cover was too good, I didn't see them coming until I went over them).

in Victoria they haven't dropped the prices yet... Hotham and Falls should drop after 12 September 2010 by like $20 :P

Buller doesn't appear to have spring pricing :(

Snow report looks decent (almost makes you forget the tragedy that was last weekend), I'm probably heading up Saturday or Sunday while the snow is still there. : ). Anyone else keen?

Snow quality is still very good across all the Aus resorts. Amazing really considering the rain event especially in VIC.

Aussies can grab $49 Buller tickets from Zizzle.com.au. Only available for the next couple of hours or until sold out.
