Topic: WTF- I got spam on a product review...Posted: Jun/06/2010 at 9:06pm |
|
My brother just bought like 3 shorts and 2 shirts, bindings, and a snowboard SS. He got them yesterday. Anyway he told me he was putting up reviews for them, which he did. And before today I didnt have any spam on messages or product reviews. Know I do. Soo whats up? Im here saying hes worn all of these clothes publicly and has gotten to know what they are like, so why did one of his reviews get a spam? Because hes put in full amount of review points per day? I kinda find that BS. Just asking if a mod can take that away cuz it's not right. I don't, nor my brother, (who is 22), abuse the point systems. We write reviews on things we have, on things we have experienced. PLEASE TAKE THIS SPAM AWAY.

Ok and another thing... Ive been with sierra snowboard for almost a freaking year. I can understand it happening to a lift op, but not someone who has been dedicated to SS for a long time. Ive bought all my boards, coats, pants, and boots from SS. Kinda BS thank you!

Maybe the review was just useless?
spam is not just posting reviews on something you don't own but also reviews that are not helpful to others.

did you review a board without using it? because ive heard of that happening. im not saying you did, but its just that you mention buying a board and reviewing things. maybe you review aboard without using it and thats like instant spam flag.

You sure about that? You can't really review something you don't own, unless you demoed the product. Cause the purpose of a review is to give an in-depth analysis of the product so other people can judge whether they want to spend their valuable money on that item

yeah you're right. you can post a review on something you want to own, but it will get flagged pretty quickly. |

I had three of my reviews of products i used to use get flagged even though they were legit and i have not written reviews shorter than 2 sentences at least. Now i cant even go back and look at the review to see what i did wrong.

Simple answer. If your reviews are useless or deemed crap they will be flagged. Just because you think it may be honest and legit doesn't mean others will. Just learn to write better reviews that others will think are useful.

i think i saw that review. it said "my new favorite shorts"
-just because you own the item does not make the review 'legit' -not everything needs a review (like the sierra gift card) the reviews are there to help people make an informed decision on purchasing gear. if you have nothing worthy to post that you think will help, don't post a review. its pretty simple. remember that if you let others use your account, be it to write a review or post in threads, it's your responsibility. "Things to consider when writing a review 1. The snowboard community will be reading your review and will be able to reply. 2. Be detailed in your review, let people know your style of riding and how you experienced this snowboard. 3. Be honest in your review, the more helpful the review is, the higher ranked it will be. 4. Bad reviews can be marked as spam. When reviews are marked as spam you will lose member points. 5. Please don’t include any html tags, or links to other retailers. 6. Proof read your reviews, your reviews are a reflection of yourself." "Write a review: Please share your experiences with the products you have used, purchased or demoed. Let us all know what you think. Spread the love or the dirt; nothing beats first hand experience. You can post up to three a day. Reviewing products with irrelevant reviews, or un-insightful reviews for points can, and will, be deleted resulting in a loss of those points. If a review is flagged 5 times by the community as spam, the review will be deleted along with the associated points." |

The "I own" or "I demo" options are redundant because the only thing that matters is if you used the item. No one cares if u own an item if it's sitting in ur closet collecting dust during the summer.
I've bought 240 points worth of stuff on Sierra in the last 2 months (that's 2400 bux) and i've only written 3 reviews. Why? Because it's frigging hot now in japan and I haven't tested the items yet. I thought about writing reviews for my clothing items based on it's specs (ie - pocket sizes/locations, material, zipper, warmth, fit, weight) but it seemed dumb without trying em in boarding conditions so I gave it up. Sierra has a great point system going on... Don't abuse it. And to the op, u seem like a real articulate guy from ur posts so I'm sure u can beef up your reviews with more info np. |
