    Posted: Jun/12/2010 at 1:33am

This is Mike.M from Sierra butting in here. Lets let this contest run until August15th?!? Does that get into late season riding?

We will select a winner for best photo with a sierra snowboard, based on photo skills, tricks, comedy, scenery etc.

The Grand winner will get a tasty treat compliments of Sierra.

Competition - Best Photograph of a Sierra Board at an Australian Resort and NZ Resort.

Categories:
  1. Best Carve photo
  2. Best Trick photo
  3. Best other photo

I'll put up some prizes - hell if Sierra Staff read this they might even put up the prizes - either way I will make something happen.

Submit your entries here. Voting by thread members at end of snow season. We will work out how to do that.

Title each post with your community name and photo number (if you post more than one), a short caption and the type of Sierra board

eg. Tank'don Snow#1 - Sierra begins @ Perisher - Sierra Reverse Crew
Not the most exciting photo, but you get the idea. Poor bloke was on the beginner slope teaching one of his friends.

Will be interesting to see if any community members go - HEY that's me! Superstar ...

I'm sure there will be a alot of sierra board on the slopes this season judging by the price on sierra and the amount that seem to have been selling on ebay.
It's going to be funny when someone posts a picture, and the next post reads "Hey, That's me" lol

Seems like a cool idea. Does this mean it has to be you in the pic?
or it could be any random and you get the chance to snap shot them?

Cool idea.  I'll be very interested to see how many SS boards on the season this year.  It's interesting watching the aussie member numbers rapidly increasing on this site.  I reckon by then end of the season we will be greater than 10,000.  Surely then they can bring back the international giveaway!

Hey bro, props for the idea. Also, It was my first day for the season @ perisher today, and I saw lots of SS boards - I thought I'd be the only one! I saw 2 Sierra Crews, 1 Sierra RC plus me, and like. 3 sierra Stunts. Pretty good considering there was hardly anyone up there, no ques was sooo good.!

July 21-Aug 4 i'll be up at buller with Pro Film/DSLRs, flashes and lenses :) I plan on spending some time just taking photos at the parks and jumps. Look for the guy with the Sierra Team and Think Tank belt system (lots of big black pouches on my waist).

That's a pretty good first entry for a photo - perhaps a re-take and get the Sierra logo up the right way ... come on guys PERFECTION!LOLLOL

Yes let's include videos as well ... so 4th category for best video footage - lets cut at no more than 3o seconds. Good angersjay ...

Thanks for the support Mike.M - think that this could possibly produce some great promo photos.

Perhaps for those of us who are photographers and don't want to see our work used improperly, you add some terms to the entrance:

By entering your photo into the competition you are giving sierrasnowboard a non-exclusive, non-transferable, unlimited use and time license to use the photograph for web usage. The photographer retains all rights to the image.

This basically means that sierra can use the photograph as they wish on their website without paying you anything (even if you don't win). They cannot however use your photograph in any other medium (such as print). As a warning for sierra however, if you're going to use the photograph for any sort of marketing get a model release for the person in the photo if they are identifiable. If you use somebody's likeness to promote a product or service without a model release you can be sued.

I know, i know, why can't a photo contest just be a simple photo contest ;) Unfortunately sierra have to cover their asses when it comes to this sort of stuff otherwise they can get in a bunch of very expensive trouble - and that could mean we wont get such good deals. This is something i wouldn't want to see happen.

@ Mike.M

Thanks for the support with this ... our season proper does not finish until the beginning of October - so that would be the preferred competition closure. Especially when regular we get some of our best falls late.

I posted this as some fun for us Ozzies (and Kiwis). Whilst pleased and impressed that Sierra came to my suggestion and will now put up a prize - was a little frustrated that the post title was changed. I really wanted it to reflect Australian/Kiwi board riders and be for Ozzies and Kiwis only. After all it was my idea ... any chance we can change it back please.

I think this will be really sucessful ...

Hope there is something in it for me - as the "creator" ....

Just to be clear to all the guidelines for the competition have not changed.

BIG THANKS TO SIERRA again! Always impressing the community.ClapClapClapClap

Update:

Sierra has confirmed with me that that will supply a Grand Prize for the Competition.

So there will be prizes for each category:
  1. Best Carve photo
  2. Best Trick photo
  3. Best other photo of a Sierra Board

The Photo with the most votes regardless of category will win the Grand Prize - videos not included.

There will be a seperate prize for best video.

Thanks to Mike.M and Sierra for coming to our call for support.

Voting will commence at end of season and process for voting will be explained closer to end of season.

Thanks to all Post Buddies for your support so far.

Plenty of Sierra boards getting around Perisher ...

Just sound words of advice. Sierra Stunts are probably not the best boards to be learning on. Get some lessons people ... get you snowboard fundamentals right.

Rode my Sierra Team for the first time today ... very impressed with this board ... was on it all day. Super cruisy board to ride ...

FYI to all - I am officially a Sierra Distributor in Australia. So if you want a Sierra board (and could not come to terms with the shipping cost) or have friends that do - they will be selling thru our ebay store Tank'd on Snow.  Prices will be equivalent to Sierra, just get the local support and help spread the word. Another way of getting your hands on these great sticks. Hoping to get some demo sticks in the future (still working this thru) and run some demo days. (Mike.M please add anything I may have missed)
