So, Rousey got the win over Cat Zingano in 14 seconds.  Can anyone beat her?

I am okay if GSP never returns.  Such a boring fighter before his injury.

I think wholesale testing of the entire roster would be a good thing. It could mean GSP might return, eh?

Btw, anyone catch the free card last wknd?

Bendo executed his gameplan well. If he had not been able to avoid Thatch's aggression & damage in the early rounds, I didn't have much hope for him.

Hopefully, Thatch learns a lot from this fight. He shoulda listened to his corner a bit better btwn the 1st & 2nd or 2nd & 3rd when they told him to dial down the power and instead turn up the speed & quickness of his striking. I think he woulda had Bendo on his bike even more, and catch him w/ lesser shots yet still do some damage. He still has plenty of upside & room for growth.

it's definitely tainting his legacy.   maybe his legacy at the end will be forcing the UFC to do regular testing of all fighters

Disapprove smh at the post-fight test failure.

On another forum a couple days after the Diaz match, I had mentioned how Anderson sounded like he was SERIOUSLY considering retirement even with 9 fights left on the latest contract he signed.

I had even noted that he 1st needs to uphold his coaching commitment on the TUF Brazil 4 season in Vegas. Then days later, I read that he has been removed after the 1st week cuz of possible disciplinary action imposed by the commission. Kinda embarrassing, eh?

I mean, it's not career ending shame or anything, but it's kinda starting to taint his legacy--at least in my eyes.

If it ever actually happens I will be excited to see it.  Seems that Mayweather is still trying to find ways to derail the negotiations while still claiming that he wants the fight.

I think you mean you didn't think it gonna be a "clean sweep" as far as Anderson winning EVERY round. Cuz both guys' performances mos def warranted a UD for The Spider.

And one of the 3 judges, Sal D'Amato, did give Nick the 4th round yielding the only 49 - 46 scorecard.

Finally, here's one more episode featuring the fictional comedy stylings of Nick & Nate.....

Who else is watching tmrw's PPV?

And I don't recall if anyone has ever posted a vid or two by this guy, but his voice impersonations are really good.

Since this one features both The Spider & Nick, I thought I'd post it to give y'all a taste of his work. Check out the rest of his videos, too. My faves are his GSP & Diaz bros impressions. Spot on and his comedy writing is awesome, too!

And. Here. We. Go!

Lol, you guys remind me of hipster ufc wannabes. GSP, did what he had to do to win. He fought strategically. If you want to see street fights go on youtube. These are athletes fighting the best in the business. So, yah they fight opponents that they cannot defeat in knockout or submission. Thus strategy comes in...

If you don't understand that concept then you don't know what it means to be in a close fight.

Think of GSP. Bones has made errors but, who hasn't?? Gus didnt get robbed. If you want the belt you better make sure it is decisive.

When I think of GSP, I think of Greg Jackson telling him to keep his opponents down and lay on them for 5 rounds.

Like most Jon Jones fans, they all think he's hot shit, when in reality he should really be fighting at heavyweight, not light heavyweight. He'd get worked by half that division if he fought in it.

How the hell can you say what an amazing match. He did not show anything worth stating he is a beast. He wasn't impressive at all in this win over DC.  He fought like crap the last two matches. If Gus get's this win and gets a rematch with Jones, Jones will get worked. Gus got robbed last match and this time it won't happen.

I was once an avid UFC fan.  However I too have lost interest and can't really pinpoint why.  I think maybe it got over saturated - too many events, too many fighters, hard to keep up.

Hopefully Gus beats Rumble to get his title shot rematch against Jones. I hate how everyone loves Jones because he has yet to lose. What people don't understand, is that when you're taller and your reach is about a foot longer then your opponent, it's kinda hard to match up against that, so clearly Jones gets a handicap in his fights.
That's why when he first fought Gus, he almost lost because he actually fought someone as tall and same reach as him. I think Gus would know how to beat him now if he got the rematch. Love how Gus also posted he wasn't impressed with Jones performance against Cormier. Which is true, he didn't look great at all. If Jones were to someone win the rematch(that is if Gus beats Rumble), definitely time for Jones to move up to heavyweight to get a taste of more opponents his height and reach. I don't think he would last long in Heavyweight.

BUMP from the grave for UFC 182: Jones vs. Cormier

'Tis crazy to read what the questions, thoughts & rumors were around this time last year.

Tons of change over the past 12-13 months...

A new womens' division dawned and has its 1st champion

Injury epidemic (read: curse)

After having one WW champs for several years, we saw 2 different men claim the strap in their epic 1st fight & rematch

Announcement (at an "OK, we're serious this time. The Time is Now cuz we officially finalized everything." press conference LOL) of uniforms to debut in 2015

Way too many events as several cards were VERY lackluster

Because losing stars like Anderson & GSP as well as aforementioned injuries to a few champs & PPV draws really does hurt viewership & interest

The emergence of Connor and a few other surprises showing potential w/ their abilities as a fighter & self-promoter

and much much more for me to recall & recap

Going to be iffy year for the UFC. Hopefully I'm wrong.
I was thinking the same thing. I wonder ufc can still maintain their fan base now that two of the biggest stars are out long term. Dana must be looking hard to find the next big star to hit the ring. I'm predicting a slight drop as they still have many big names to carry the ppv.

Pretty sure the fans that have following UFC for so long will still stay dedicated( including me). It's just going to be hard to grow that fan base even more.

I hate how boxing ppvs draw so much more ratings compared to UFC's. Boxing is such a dead sport. They book the shittiest fights. Usually the main event is only thing worth watching. As compared to UFC's fight cards where even the prelims could be really exciting leading all the way up to the main event.
True. I tend to find the prelims even more entertaining since they're hungrier to earn a contract in the ufc. Can't stand boxing with all the clutching and holding. Maybe they need to bring back some ear biting? Lol

That is exactly why to stay out.  I'd rather begin my rehab knowing I'm retired, instead of with some misled confidence that I am going to come back and win everything and retire a champion.

Agree it should be his decision.  He knows what's he's in for and whether or not its worth it.

His ego won't let him go out like that, he'll be back later and probably lose again.  LOL

You must be crazy to deny a fighter, who is arguably the biggest ppv draw in ufc, a comeback fight. Why wouldn't you? He's money in the bank. If he does make a come back then i say let him. Imo, he's earned that right to have that option.

^^^ I wouldn't doubt it one bit if Silva would try to comeback, I know he has it in him, but at this point of his career, it wouldn't make much sense.

In other UFC news, Cruz vacated his belt due to yet another injury, this time to his groin. Feels like this guy is retired, too.  So it's going to be Faber vs Barao. My pick is Barao in that fight.  Should be a hell of a fight either way.

His manager says he'll be back, but if it were up to me, I wouldn't let him. I'd let him teach and train fighters though.
