Sierra Snowboard has a house in Government Camp this summer and we will be on snow shredding into August!!
 Myself (dougfagel) and MagicWeed3 (Stan) and Little Ole Me (Jen) will be riding and shoot video throughout the summer. Partnered with High Cascade Snowboard Camp, we will be riding some of the best freestyle terrain in the world!! We will be sharing our experiences with you by:

Glad I found this thread. I've been heading down there couple times each summer since I was a camper at Chris Carrol Snowboarding camp back in 89.
My family is giving me a father's day gift in the form of a lift ticket so I'll be riding the public pipe (Jah willing) on Sunday this weekend! I'd love to meet up and ride with you guys if possible. |

Nice... I'm going to be in Portland early August (5th - 10th). Was already planning on hitting up Hood for at least one of those days if there's still decent terrain open to the public. If you guys do something cool during that time it'd just make it even more awesome!

You can sleep in your car or find a camping spot down the road if you are desperate. Just don't burn a bon fire, or the rangers will spot you.
I've done it in the past, as long as you are okay with glove stink cologne, you can save your testicles. |

Sorry, stupid question... I looked up Mt. hood and it's website said it's done for the season? So, where are you boarding? I'm interested, but do you need to stay the week for camp or can you just stay for Fri - Sun? Any good flights to Portland?

The pipe should be open this weekend. Today it was closed and the pipe cutter was at the top. The mountain got 4 to 6 inches of snow today.
We will not be able to get people into HCSC terrain. We will be shooting video in the HCSC parks and only have limited passes. Gloo540 - I sent you a PM with my contact info so you can hit us up when you get to Hood.

Looking at hotel prices, I believe I will be staying at Troutdale Best Western (~$120, as I will have wife and two kids), which seem to be decent considering proximity and the quality of lodging.
I'm on the waiting list for McMenemins Edgefield, which I hear rocks for the family (brewery/hotel!), which is in Troutdale, not too far. I guess it is relative, as I'm used to driving down from Seattle at 3am, going I-5 to I-84. The lodging at Govy camp is pricy. I think best deals are going for the cabins with a group of people. I've stayed at Timberline Lodge once, but you are really paying for the location, with tiny rooms. Very nice place though. I'm sure there are others that know more. And as I stated before, camping is always an option. |

OMG! i can't believe i'm not going this year! I'm gonna miss meeting the sierra crew! HCSC is so amazing, but this year i'm saving up to take a trip to switzerland and ride with a friend of mine who is an exchange student here this year. She is so bad-A$$!!!!
