NOOOOO!!!! I heard Harbaugh and A. Smith have had numerous meetings. (I assume the worst.) The CBA needs to be done asap so the Niners could sign or trade for someone else. Not another year of #11.

packers should be a much better team next year. they had a lot of season ending injuries to key players, jermichael finley, ryan grant, nick barnett. looks like they got a pretty good shot to win it again next year.

If GB can improve their O=Line and D-Line....they could repeat fairly easily.

Well considering the number of injuries they had this year, it's scary to think what they'll be like next year. Vegas has them as the second-most likely team to win the Super Bowl next year (Patriots first).

Wow a few days of talks and they cancel the meeting for today. It's clear the Owners are out to show the players who holds all the cards. I feel this 18 game season is going to be a real sticking point for negotiations. One thing is for sure, the top 10 picks need a serious wage scale and the last few seasons of ridiculous guarantees should NOT be considered when setting it up.

What kind of coach would Harbaugh be if he did not evaluate the players that are already with the team? Also, who knows what other players will be available this off season. I would trust Harbaugh's QB talent evaluation.
Rodgers is under contract until 2014. Are you talking about after that? Lets stick to whats going to happen next season. |

Man 49er fans really hate Smith don't they?
I for one am hoping this agreement goes through so we can get something from Orton. The last thing my terrible team needs is a QB controversy to start the training camp...which is a moot point because there is going to be a lockout for at least the first few weeks.

Which Smith QB are you talking about? Haha. With the immediate walk out by NFL owners today, it's really not looking good for next season. If only it started snowing earlier in the fall.

Favre will never retire. He lives, breathes, and eats footballs. He also sends pictures of his balls to women that look like his wife as well. |

I dont hate Alex Smith, it's just that he's average at best. We saw what this guy had for 5-6 years and zero playoff appearances. In a QB driven league,I just think he's a career backup.

I'm just thinking, why whould he want to come back? The majority of Niner fans want him gone and boo him at the home games.

yeah, alex smith needs out of san fran. i'm sure there's a team out there that would take him as a backup. a new environment would do him some good. you never know, he may blow up but probably not.

Yeah, he came in with a LOT of pressure. Some QBs have done well in those conditions - even lately (Ryan, Sanchez, Flacco, Roethlesberger) but those guys had much better teams around them.

I agree, i think he would make a solid back up but not a starting qb, he definitely improved his skills.

I agree that A.Smith has worn out his welcome with Niner fans. But who are they going to get to replace him that's any better? If they can't or don't get anyone better, hopefully Harbaugh can get the best out of him.

Lot of QBs are on the downward part of their careers at moment so plenty of opportunities opening up soon.

Thank God my Buvcs have a pretty solid QB in Josh Freeman. The kid is only 22...23 next December and has 1.5 yrs of starts. I think they are in good shape. There will be a lot of QB turnover this year, with the draft and trades if the and when the CBA is approved.

At this point let's hope there is a 2011 season. At the same time if there isn't one then the panthers will have two #1 picks for 2012 and we would end up getting Andrew Luck so can't complain too much.

your Bucs are looking very solid...i didnt think Freeman was gonna be as legit has he has turned out, i was skeptical of him starting last season but he keeps proving me wrong and i really hope the Bucs make the playoffs next year...if there is a next year... bc they are a fun young team to watch (not to mention i like to support my fellow hokie Cody Grimm continue to prove ppl wrong and show he can play at any level)
