The match is between Isner (USA) and Mahut (FRA)
It's in the 5th set and the score is 54-53 to Isner - Yes, that's right, they have played 107 games in the 5th set alone!!

Yea, and normally there are tie-breakers in place, but at Wimbledon, you must win the 5th set by two games

My buddy at squaw just text me about this crazyness. |

Granted, they did play the first 4 sets yesterday, and have only been playign the 5th set today, but the 5th set alone has taken almost 7 hours! And they are starting to run out of daylight today as well

That's only in the group stage. It's still going on? I watched a little bit of it this morning when it was 34-34 or something like that. |

These poor guys look soooo tired :( I feel bad for them. I am not sure if this is going to determine the 'better' player, just the one with the most stamina.
58-57 Isner/Mahut Update: 58/58 Break time. Returning for a 3rd day... they've been on the court for 10 hours so far.... |
|

Big Air. Kids today, that's all they want, big air. I say stick to the mountain. That's where the fun is. You want big air kid? Pull my finger.

Holy crap this is insane. I would be so pissed if I went through all this and ended up losing. Unfortunately one of them has to.
Update: ahhhh match point only to go back to tied. 59/59. Play suspended due to darkness.

Well, they stopped the match at 59-59 and will continue it tomorrow...unreal - a tennis match spanning the course of 3 days. How will these guys be able to even lift their arms tomorrow morning?

What kind of turn around does tennis have? Playing 3 straight days only to have to play a fresh player would suck.

the craziest part of the tournament is: now the winner gets to do it again in 24 hours (against a better player), then again, then again

My hat is off to Isner especially, he's 6'9" and 250 lbs and he still lasted as long as a guy much smaller than him. Plus his serve was still 140 mph after all that play. |

damn, what an epic match. thats gotta take an unbelievable amount of determination from both players to last 59 games each. average 5 setters take 50 games. so they've pretty much lasted around 3 average 5 setters. i hope it doesn't end from someone picking up an injury. a fight to the death would be way more EPIC!

not to say that the two players arent amazing athletes and not worth talking about, but the USA goal in injury time will still take the cake as far as sports stories at least until this saturday when USA plays ghana.. go USA!

I like sports that don't have an arbitrarily time limit; anything that encourages 'running the clock out' just seems like a cop out. Baseball has always been the one that comes to mind, but man, a 10+ hour tennis match is just brutal.

They have to win by two right? I read about it online earlier and it sounded like a crazy match. some guy beat the records for most aces in a match.

Sucks that these guys probably played themselves out of the tourney after such an epic match. I can't imagine either will be anywhere close to 100% in their next match.

That would be crazy. I'd like to see it too, but as close as they are, it's still a lot to hope for. I think Federer and Roddick set the combined record of 80-something aces in last year's Wimbledon final or else it was set in the same match that Karlovic got 70-something aces. |

Wow I saw a bit of this earlier on espn but figured it would've ended already and I finished lunch so I stopped watching. They had JUST matched the record time for the longest match of like 6 hours 24 minutes or something like that. These guys are crazy lol. We can say they both have heart though
