Difficult to understand why tiger struggled at this course-first time ever that him and phil missed cut at same tournament

Tiger's game has been extremely hot and cold for the past couple years. Long gone are the days where he'll win consecutive tournaments. But having both him and Phil out of it has gotta be a detriment to the ratings. I enjoy watching Phil play. Though, i am a lefty so it's a bit of a bias :D

Your girlfriend plays golf?  That's a double-edged sword.  One one hand, you probably get to play a decent amount of golf.  On the other hand, you know, you're playing golf with a girl.

My wife golfs.  Back in the days before we had kids golfing with her had a calming effect on me.  Before that I used to get pretty worked up about my lousy golf game.

Consistently inconsistent, they might say Pow! lol. I golf with my gf pretty regularly. I wouldn't say it has a calming effect on me, cuz she seems to get frustrated when every shot isn't of LPGA quality. She hits it straight pretty consistently! I wish i could do the same :D

Just getting the wife into golf, she seems pretty stoked to get out and play and is doing a get golf ready 5 session clinic to learn from a pro and not me, which probably would end in divorce.  I used to play 2-3 days a week but that hasn't happened in years, hopefully with her getting into it I will be able to get out and play more often than 1-2x a month.  I've been hitting the range a few times a week but actually finding the time to play a round is a whole different subject unfortunately.

Gf played a bit in high school, but we've never played together.  We have some beautiful courses very close by, and i think it'd be a fun activity for the two of us.

That's what its all about isn't it?  I'm usually always having a great time unless I top 3 or 4 shots in a row and roll my way from the tee to the green... that hasn't happened in awhile..hopefully i didn't speak to soon.  better go find some wood to knock on. *nohomo*

so, on a serious note. My grandfather, who got me really interested in golf, has played his entire life, its a part of him. He was just diagnosed with ALS. Now that his clock is ticking, he is taking his 4 sons to Ireland to play the old courses where this game was bred. Somber yet incredible, it makes me anxious to get over there someday and pay homage to the birthplace of this stupid game that is such a big part of me.

of course!  I realized pretty quickly after I started golfing that I would never be pro so being too serious and stressing about my game doesn't do anyone any good.  I'm not here for a long time I'm here for a good time.. my motto on the course and in life.

Went for my second visit to Canyon Lakes for my bday yesterday. Had a miserable front 9, but played a pretty solid back half. Managed to only hit one house through the entire course! Woot! lol

Personally I'll be watching a lot more of the PGA championship than the Olympics.  I just can't get into most of the Olympic events.  I'm sure there will be plenty of people watching golf this weekend.

Anyone think there will be another Sunday choke-job at the PGA Championship?  Why should it be any different than the other 3 majors this year?  But I will say that it has made for some interesting golf to watch, even if it's a bit painful at times.

Everyone cracks under pressure sometimes, so it wouldn't surprise me if someone choked... But I wouldn't bet on it being such an overwhelming fall from the top as at least the last 2 majors.

What's going on with Phil Mickelson?  He's missed the cut in 3 out of his last 5, and his round yesterday was all over the place.  He still came in at +1, but he was in trouble on almost every hole.  Pretty entertaining stuff actually, but it's more entertaining when he's closer to the top of the leaderboard.

looks like another major for Rory - at least after 3 rounds.

as for my golf game, played around 35 rounds so far this year.  I was shooting between high 90's and low 100's all year.  End of the season is slowly approaching and i'm finally in 80's.

Shot 84 and 82 last two rounds (6250 and 6103 length), so i'm very excited where my game is right now.  Planning new irons for next year - so far i've been playing with pinemeadow golf knock offs.  I will be probably getting jpx 800's or 800 pro's next year fitted!

BTW - if you were every wondering about taking a lesson - stop thinking about it and do it.  my pw went from 115 to 150, 9 iron 160 etc (all GPS verified - golfshot).

Impressive performance by McIlroy for sure, but what happened to Vijay Singh.  He was the only player to break 70 in the terrible weather on Friday, and then he put up a 74 on Saturday, and a 77 on Sunday.  That's just kind of strange.  Rory was the complete opposite.  He killed the course every day but Friday.

Guys, I shot an 85 yesterday, that ties my lowest round of 18 ever!  I don't normally get to play a lot of full rounds, mostly 9 holes after work once a week.  So while I do shoot the odd 43, 44 or 45 I have never put it all together before like yesterday's 43/42.

Driving was excellent, only lost one ball all day and had all pars, bogeys and one triple (lost ball).  The one annoying thing was how close I was to under 80, I was JUST missing each green, having to chip on from a lot of fringes and quite a few 3 putts.  My putting is by far the worst part of my game most of the time.  I just can't seem to figure out speed a lot of time, and mostly coming up short then missing a 5 footer.

What do you guys use to practice distance lag putts?

Nicely done, Rich. Honestly I don't use much else than the putting green at the local driving range. For whatever reason, I am a lot better at ong distance putting than with the 10' and unders. I think it's just cuz i feel a lot more relaxed putting from distance and don't expect it to sink every time. It's the hell of missing the 2' follow up that really irks me lol.

First round of the club championship tomorrow morning, what sucks is I have to work the grounds crew up until like 15 minutes before I tee off. haha. should be good, we have been working our butts off all week and the course looks great! I personally spent 13 hours between yesterday and today pushing sand around the bunkers so they are more even. I think im going to play pretty well and might have a shot at coming close to winning. Updates tomorrow after round 1.

Remember when rory's game was way off at the beginning of the season and analysts were theorizing that maybe he wasnt the next prospective dominant player-now outta nowhere he won 4 tournaments incl a major this year

2 worst rounds of the summer, I was having issues with the downswing angle on my driver in the end of august, figured it out now. Also the greens were crazyyyy fast, we rolled them the night before and had been double cutting them for weeks. Not blaming it on that, I just havent putted on greens that fast ever, and I lost allll my strokes putting. Had a ton of fun though
