nice...breaking 90 for the first time is a big step. i still shoot in the upper 80's but for people who cant afford to play multiple times a week that's pretty good. putting is the hardest thing to be consistent at in golf in my opinion. i still have way too many three putts-if i could shave those out of my game i could shoot mid to maybe someday low 80's

I live a mile or so from a decent golf course, but I just don't get out there enough to break 90 any time in the near future.

i shot my first sub 80 round for the season season 2 weeks ago. done 2 more since then. my puttings been really solid lately, as has my driver. the hot weather is also adding 15 or so yards to my drives, so that helps. first sub 80 round was  78, next 2 were 79 and a 77. im hoping to have a sub 75 round by the end of the summer if i can really crank up the focus and hit all my fairways and paint the flagstick for 18 holes, i can do it. i just need to keep my consistency up like it had been lately.

oh and for all you ppl riding carts. your pussies. walk. unless you have leg problems. then its acceptable.

Clarke most likely would of held on to it, but Phil gave it a good run then crumbled like a  cookie

yea but i don't like how everyone says that he choked

he was 6 under after the 10th hole - nobody came even close to playing at that level during those 4 days.  He was taking chances because he was so behind and Clarke kept hitting it well.

He was too far behind coming in on Sunday - simple as that.  Maybe if the leader was somebody less experienced (dustin?Ouch) then he would be able to take it a little easier on the back nine knowing that he doesn't have to score that well

I'm very proud of how he played, knowing that links golf is not really his strength

The weather took a turn for the worse too about halfway through Mickelson's round.  They got some heavy rains right around when Phil cooled off.  Tough to play from behind when conditions are changing.

It's been so hot here in Oklahoma that I can't even think about playing golf. Around 100 degrees by 10:30 in the morning, 103-110 around 1pm. Been like this for 23 days straight now.
Bring it hard or don't bring it at all.

When is Tiger oing to be back? I'm tired of watching golf without him because he used to be so good and always had a chance of winning any tournament.

That's true, he didn't really choke but people are going to say that when he put himself in a position to win and couldn't come through. He was pressing the whole time because he was behind, the conditions just got to him at the end. Would have been great if Phil could have posted a 5 or 6 under and gave Clarke some more pressure, it might have changed the outcome.

skyfooze, i agree with you. it's just not the same without tiger-i dont care what anyone says, it's not. it's cool to see dustin johnson consistently contending but eventually he needs to start taking some. rory is fun to watch and i think jason day will win a few-he's always in the mix at majors (with the exception of this one). tiger, come back man.

^ At least you are getting out and golfing.  I haven't played a round yet and I have 3 scrambles coming up.  Back before I was coaching baseball and had a regular life I would get out a couple of times a week and was shooting in the low 90's with an occasional high-80's tally.

Gotta hit the range before my first scramble on Sunday...

when play is quick I can get finished by 7:40.

Decided not to play today.. too damn hot, even for me. and I got tee time on Sunday instead at a nice~~ private country club. (free guest day)

Yep, Stevie Williams backed him up through his infidelity, sex scandal, etc. and that's the thanks he gets.  Tiger is a jackass.

Tiger intends to start over from fresh i think, completely leave the past behind, i guess it's what he has to do but i feel for steve as i said himself he's stuck with tiger for the last 2 years and now feels that he's " wasted the last 2 years of his life"

No one can stop the Irish golfers these days anyway

I think it's for the Stevie Williams to break away from Tiger. Caddies get paid by commission, usually 10% of winnings. Tiger has been injured and sucked when he played the past 2 years. That means his caddie has not been making a living! He stayed loyal and waited for Tiger to get back to form and stuck by him through all the crap. He couldn't wait any more and went and caddied for someone else. What did you expect him to do? Keep waiting and go broke? Tiger is a scumbag for firing him because he needed to go earn an income. But, now that he's freed of Tiger, he can caddie for anyone he wants and doesn't have to ask for permission!

Tiger has been making bad moves and decisions for two solid years straight. Firing his friend, caddie, and supporter is just his latest misstep in a long line

This is far more about Tiger then Stevie....turns out Stevie was told three weeks ago at the National by Tiger but both agreed to wait until after the majors to tell the public.

Its pretty great to be able to play nine after work. The course is 5 minutes away from my job.

But Sunday will be nice. usually $100+ to play on that course. Of course you need to have a member with you.

It is kind of weird to break with him after he stuck by Tiger through all the stuff he's just gone through. Also, he's already said he'll be caddying for Adam Scott full-time now.

that is pretty nice.... I am somewhat obsessed with golf lately and 9 holes just would not satisfy my addiction if you know what i meanLOL

anyways, went out today with my dad.  shot another 88 which slowly is becoming my average score Big smile.  Still need to work on my game - had 3 double bogeys on the front that should have been bogeys at the worst...

Had the first of three scrambles today and am fairly pleased with how I played.  Hit some great drives, had some really good 90-120 yard shots to the green (hit more greens in reg than my team mates), solid with my irons other than a couple of crap shots.  My putting sucked donkey dong, though, I couldn't putt to save my life today.  My team didn't fare well but we had a good time and raised money for breast cancer research.  Our team name (keeping in mind this was a fund raiser for breast cancer) was We Stare 'cause We Care.

lol

i was close to that on the front 9 of one of the golf courses in my area.  Water on every single hole, you actually get used to it and did much better on the back.

wind was over 30mph too.....

Just carded a sub 90 score for the first time ever (42 on front & 47 on back for an 89).  I have shot a lot of 9 hole rounds of 42-45 but dont' play full 18s much so I don't get a lot of shots at it.  1 birdie and 4 pars on the front 9, I was on fire until I tripled 9 (after seeing I was only 4 over after 8 of course).  I could have shot a 39 if not for that triple on 9, and it's not a hard hole either.

either way i was very happy with my first ever 89.

Awesome Job!  I also usually only play 9 holes but shoot in the mid 40s.  I've only broken 90 twice and it was a pretty awesome feeling.

Congrats to you.... I'll tip a cold one in your honor this evening.

I'm no pro at hitting a draw by any means, but i can do it on command (sometimes).

I adjust to a "stronger" grip... keep my same swing plane, but try to emphasize on following thru with my hands.

I do the same for a fade... except i go with a weaker grip.

It may not be the textbook way to hit a draw/fade... but it works for me.

^ I can do the following at the range but when I really need to play a draw it just doesn't seem to work consistently...  Anyhow, I go with a slightly stronger grip as Shift said above plus I use a slightly wider stance with the ball slightly back in my stance.  That's a lot of "slightly"s...
