    Posted: Jul/23/2010 at 11:59am
I am from BC Canada and am interested in doing a road trip in to the states to check out Mt Hoods summer skiing next year. With Whistler, its half days, a T bar that connects to a small park and is 2 hours to get to the glacier and I am hoping that Mt Hood is better. If not, any other mountains that you could recommend to work on my tan and get my board on?

Mt. hood has a lot of snow this year and it's accessed by a high-speed quad. I don't know of any other mountains operating at this time.

Thanks for the link. Also, according to the hood website they are indeed closed for the season.

Just went to Mt. Hood on July 27. There really isn't much open unless you are in a camp, which is to be expected I guess. Overall I wasn't that impressed with Timberline. I think it mostly had to do with the staff. The guy at the rental shop was really a prick. Basically told my girlfriend and I that since we were not "experts" that we shouldn't even attempt Mt. Hood. We went up the lift anyway to check out the conditions and eventually ended up going back to rent gear and get a lift ticket for snowboarding. Glad we did too because the "Black Diamonds", which I rarely do on the east coast, were not difficult or steep at Timberline at all.

Ha ha! Thats wicked I hate jerk offs like that as well! Thanks for the heads up!

Yeah if you ever come up to BC its the same way. The Blues feel like greens and the blacks aint so steep. Whistler/blackcomb and revelstoke mountain seem to have the only true "black" diamonds that i have boarded up here so far.

I don't consider anything on T-line black.... Not sure why people are overselling the mountain.  It is the least exciting of the resorts on the mountain during the winter.  Although it is the only resort open during the summer, it isn't that great of a place that you couldn't get through it. I would say the blacks feel like easy blues.
The Palmer lift is easy as well.  Beautiful views though if you catch it on a great day.  Bring your camera along.
