I find that teddy grahams are the best snack to eat while on the mountain! I usually eat the chocolate-chip ones, but the cocoa ones are also really good.
Another good sweet snack is glosette peanuts! |

lol funny thread, but i prefer something more portable and filling such as a protein bar of some sort. Detour bars are always a good go to, or sometimes homemade ones.

Beef Jerky is a great call...for all of you who ride in Mammoth make sure to stop at the jerky shop in Bishop...Mahogany Country Smokehouse...bar none best jerky ever.
For the bar option try Organic Food Bar (yes that is what it is called). It is the best bar I have found...super healthy and very fulfilling...buy it online because you can get it for about 24 bucks for twelve as opposed to 3 dollars a bar in stores like Whole Foods.

I always carry a few PB&J or turkey/cheese sandwiches with me so I dont have to stop for lunch, just eat em on the lift up. I've also been known to have a bag of goldfish with me at times.
Then there is always the beer snack... either cans in the backpack or a camelbak full.

Snacks are kinda tough. You can just bring anything you usually like to munch on, but really you want something that's both energy-dense and portable. Things like Slim Jim beef sticks arent very healthy but they pack a lot of useful calories in a small package, so sometimes I go for those. PB&J sandwiches are probably my ideal snack, even though they're vulnerable to getting crushed, cause they pack a lot of energy units (lather on that peanut butter) without being too bad for the diet.

Well considering most times I go up to the mountain I am taking the bus and just have a backpack, I don't bring much. I stop in the cafeteria for lunch which is often a cheeseburger/chicken strips + fries. Although one thing I usually have for the bus ride home is a good ol' bag of goldfish, massive snackage goes down on the ride down. Combined with a bottle of coke and I am good to go.

I mos def want to try some of that scoop IPPOLLITTEE is mowing, damn that's not what we're sucking down in Tahoe. I usu bring fruit (apples and oranges stay OK in the waist pockets), fruit rollups, a candy bar and a bottle of gatorade. hard to pack much more in my pockets but if I don't have to go to work in the afternoon (which I usually do) then I'll replace that gatorade with a couple cans of american light beer to stay hydrated -b

Last season I was going with grilled cheese sandwiches stashed in my pockets with a protein bar and usually a bag of almonds or something. not gonna lie, the grilled cheese sandwiches aren't so great up on the mountain, but I am willing to eat anything in any condition. I did get some funny looks from people as I passed them on the hill munching on my sandwich.

I always try to bring a cliff-bar with me because it has the right amount of nutrition to refuel the body, especially when you don't want to drop $20 on a chicken sandwich from the lodge.

Is beer concidered a snack? If not I love fruit when I board. Pears tend to be the most sturdy for my falling style of boarding, but thats to gladware I also munch on grapes, oranges and other soft fruits :)
