General question asking everyone how long it took them to pick up the basics their first time snowboarding, it took me 1 day to learn to leaf confidently down blue runs and then the second day i was able to s down blue runs confidently. By the 4th day of snowboarding i was able to s down most black runs without having to stop or slow down. On the final day of my trip I hit up the snow park and learnt to do the rails and a few grabs like methods and indies and would get around 1meter of air while doing so Is this fast to pick it up ?

i picked up riding forward and actually carving pretty quick. i never really did the falling leaf thing.
of course it took me longer to go faster and actually have complete control, but i dont really remember struggling. i guess that was 12 years ago though so maybe i dont remember well enough.

wow thats really fast!
i remember it took me like 2 years because i only went 1-2 time a year, 4-5 days in a row would definitely do it confidence, it's all confidence

id say it took me about 4-5 solid days of boarding to pick up carving... everything else will come after carving!

dude it took me 2 years to get carving down but that was back in the day when no one else knew how to board and I was mostly doing it on my own.
Then again there are so many videos and riders out there now you can pick things up a lot easier now. |

It only took me a couple days. About the same as what you said. I was on the bunny hill for like an hour or so but then I was off for the rest of the day. I was handling black hills by like the 3rd or 4th day and doing little jumps in the park but nothing major

i have a question to add on to this. i guess it would fit in the same category? i'm a self concious guy. i know i'm gonna get some douchebags that make fun of me on my jouney to get better.. but is the snowboarding community nice to noobs like me or no? i went for 1.5 days. but i stayed on bunny slopes. no pros there to make fun of me.

Boarding is pretty easy to pick up as long as you don't hold yourself back for fear of falling.
