This indicates Sierra just went totally under:

http://business.transworld.net/46238/features/sierra-snowboards-bankruptcy-update/
**edit**
Rumors Oh Rumors... We're still here and not in Chapter 7

****

EDIT: This is the OP: I just said the article indicated that Sierra was or will be soon in Chapter 7. And even if Transworld is wrong, it sure seems a lot stronger than mere rumor, given the evidence it presents. In any case, I am very, very happy to hear Sierra is NOT in Chapter 7, at least not yet.

still uncomfirmed...

if it is true, i'd like to thank SS for their products and services, both the store and the site. the staff had been nothing but incredible. and thank you for the free reverse crew!

It's really not unconfirmed, they are in Bankruptcy proceedings, and are working through that.  You may have noticed the staff is gone for the most part, and the service has dwindled due to the legal issues.  So yes, they are in Bankruptcy, but regardless, the site is suffering.

Sorry, I ment the Ch7 filing was unconfirmed. No question about the Ch11 and the decrease in staff.

Oh wow! That's some serious stuff...it's sad to see it end like this Cry If it does. But I have noticed that the business is not being ran like it use to.

Updated court records show Mike H. proposing to sell assets and his domain name of SierraSnowboard.com to "Active Boarder Corporation."  Interesting read the court documents are...  So yeah, take it for what it's worth.

One of the assets to be liquidated is SS's business goodwill (i.e., name brand, or "business") so I don't see why this would preclude SS proceeding under new ownership, right y'all?

This is very depressing news.... and anyone heard of Active Boarder Corporation?

I wonder what's gonna happen to the collab stuff, like the sierrascope 2011 and the Rome 390. Wonder if they would still be available...

People, chapter 7 is more or less doom for a company.  EVERYTHING down to shelving is sold off and the recouped costs are cut-up by the debtors.  Someone will buy the domain, probably one of it's biggest assets, IMO.  So yes, this site/store will live on in some iteration after it is sold off to a bidder or party the court will OK.

And you just don't file this stuff in court on a whim or for fun.  Bankruptcy for a business is no joke and the fact that the state has this on the docket means it's gospel.

Thank you and good night.

No "more or less" about it.  Chapter 7 is liquidation.  They are forced to sell everything and close forever.  Typically, it's sold to a liquidation company and they move it, which may be what's happening, now.  The 2011 product has likely been taken back by vendors, now, which is why you dont' see photos.  I feel bad for anyone with a gift card to this place.

But, don't look for Mike Harosh to open another store.  A lot of brands aren't getting paid because of him and they feel burned.

That's another thing.  This will complicate anyone with warranty issues.  I wouldn't buy a single thing from this site.  Way too risky.

Nope.  Most brands require it to go through a dealer.  I worked in shops for YEARS.  Burton, Lib, damn near everyone.  You have to go through a dealer.

ive never had to go through a dealer for my own claims and the people ive talked to have never asked if im from a shop when i call for other people.

to be fair we dont carry every company, so im sure other companies require going through the shop you bought it from.

If everything does go tits up, thanks for making boarding a little more accessible- in terms of both community and pricing.  If it wasn't for SS, I'd probably be a twice-a-year rental rider instead of an every-weekender.

Still can't understand why Sierra going out of business is good for anyone, aside from people that own other shops.

And I'm just saying I know for a fact with ten years of experience that it's not true and he doesn't need to call me out on it.   I wouldn't want to go to the shop he works at because he likely tells that crap to the customers so he doesn't have to bother with the warranty process.  Good shops take care of it for the customer.

uh, what?  youre assuming i dont take care of customers because i didnt think you needed to go through the shop, because in my experience ive never had to go through a shop?  huge jump to a whack conclusion.  sorry, ive just never had to go through a shop and no one (people from brands included) has ever told me i had to.  my bad for assuming that was normal.

and when did i "call you out" at all?

This is sad. Just saying thank you for the service and the quality product. But hey, if that means current stock may go on mass sales again, i wouldn't mind picking up a few bargains.
