warranty your stuff with the company.  thats how its always worked.  you dont have to go through the shop you bought it from.

Yeah... I called them up and they gave me the number for the distributor in Australia when I told them I'm in Aust.

I thought I'd tell them the situation (ie, I bought it from SS which is why I'm contacting them as referred to by SS--) just in case but the lady just sorta acknowledged it with an "Uh-huh..." then said well try calling the number I gave you.

So I did and in the most stereotypical Australian distributor response, I got "You bought it from overseas tough luck take it up with the place you bought it."

I emailed SS the day after but haven't had any response yet. It's been 8 days since my first follow up email, and 4 days since a follow up to say help!

Does anyone have any leads for me on this? I'd be more than happy to call the US up as I did before, it's just that Australian distributors aren't helpful at all in most cases.

I might flick another follow up email as maybe SS is just busy. (Hey if anyone from SS Cust service reads this, can you pm me so I can get some help on this? Thanks!)

I think there's more then plenty of threads about this topic...one of which you posted in already.  People are already speculating, etc in theses threads, no need to make a new one and clutter up the forum

I liked guth, sad to see him go.

That reminds me, why did sierra buy a ton of gravis from burton after the lawsuit.  Or even more odd, why did burton sell it to sierra?
SS is a stock dumping ground and Burton was desperate to get rid of stock?

There's probably a lot more in that statement than simply a response to the previous question.

yea not a good sign that they officially took off the "free daily giveaway in XX minutes" link on the top bar

I guess the only thing we can hope for now is a buyout...but even then it will never be the same...

If the company has gone under, the userbase/reputation (goodwill) is probably one of the biggest assets left...

They need to act quickly though, to avoid the speculation trashing the goodwill

If you want to support them (why, i have no idea), why wait for a sale? Why wouldn't you buy things at full price.

This is a prime example of how members here are so spoiled by these ridiculous sales.

Burton is suing sierrasnowboard for not paying them, but they sell them more stock?  Did sierra pay for it up front?  Just seems weird.

I'm very sorry to here about SS being in trouble. This is the best site I have ever found for snow equipment. Also the people on the site are the most helpful I've ever come across. The concept is brilliant. I hope we as a group don't loose the site. It will be our loss as well.

Someone said SS pulled all the Gravis stuff out of the back of their warehouse or something? I don't remember, and I'm not going to go look for it.
The majority of the Gravis stuff was old too, like 07-09 gear, iirc, with some 2010 stuff thrown in.

Burton is a big business and they probably just needed to dump the Gravis stuff...

If SS is really gonna be gone I feel like I'm losing a second family

I know the Gravis rep for the area.  He said SS did a buy all on their closeout stock at the beginning of the year before anything went down and SS didn't get around to putting it on their site until much later.  He also noted that SS described some product as Spring 2010 when it was actually older.  SS still owes for the buy.

I'd just be happy to see Sierra honour their warranty commitments before they go under. I'm still stuck with a snapped Burton board that neither Sierra nor Burton appear to be interested in replacing (Burton Australia/NZ have rudely/angrily refused because it was bought from Sierra).

I don't get why you are so angry about the fact that this site sells boards cheap. Do you have some personal issue at work here that makes you resent the folks on this site?

Then again, Alka, I also don't get why you frequent a site community that you actively hate and mock on EL, so there are a lot of things I don't get about you.

He already stated it before.  He can't access EL at work, so he posts here.  Also, the problem with Sierra is their business practices and how it hurts other shops.  Many other shops were severely hurt by the Big Bad Burton sale.  Heck, Brociety is no more now and other shops are just hanging on.  There's a reason why regulations are in place for the industry.

Did anyone else notice that since the bankruptcy threads came about that this forum has had very little activity (at least in the useless posts category)?  Seems that the point wh0res have been scared off.  Maybe some intelligent conversations can commence for the time being without them being watered down by mindless drivel.

i think its really because we've mostly devoured and speculated on the little info we have at the moment. Im sure when something new crops up, there'll be a flurry again :)

ETA: i should probably learn to read the point im addressing :)
