    Posted: Oct/01/2010 at 1:41pm
As most of you know, Sierra Snowboard has been going through some changes over the last few months. Currently we are in the process of the affiliate of The-House.com purchasing SierraSnowboard.com, Active Sports, Inc.

The Sierra Staff had the opportunity to sit down with the owners of The House yesterday, Sept 30, 2010.

With a lot of questions out there about what is going to happen to the place that we have come to know and love as our online snowboard home, we want to let people know what they can expect as Sierra Snowboard comes into new ownership.

Sierra Staff - We are here to stay!!  The House is giving us, the staff and community, the freedom to still have our own identity and conduct our site like we have in the past. The Staff has the freedom to continue the Sierra love!! Hug

Sierra Snowboard Name - The name is going to change to TruSnow to allow us to carry the complete lineup of Brands through the online store. The Sierra name will continue to be an important part of the site. Everyone using Sierrasnowboard.com will come to the same site they have always come to. The only change will be the name in the upper left corner.

The Sierra brand name is NOT going away!!!! Smile

Sierra Product Line could be expanded to include boots, bindings, jackets, pants, BMX bikes, skateboards, skis, bags, sleeves, etc.

Products - We will be selling more products than ever!!!! Over the next few weeks we will be updating our inventory with the full 2011 Product Line. Clap

Sierra Site - The site will be the same, just a new logo in the top left corner.

Members Programs - We are embracing the members at all levels and will be unveiling an updated member program this fall. Member Discounts will remain and will operate with in the guidelines of each Brand. Star

Sales - Discounts have to be realistic and cannot be damaging to Brand names. Dealer agreements have to be followed so that we don't get ourselves in trouble.

As for international sales, again dealer agreements have to be followed. Several brands do not allow their products to be shipped internationally. These Rules will be followed.

The-House is negotiating right now with FedEx for better rates on international shipping!!!

All orders from TruSnow will offer free shipping to destinations in the continental US for ALL ORDERS OVER $50.00!!!

Your Gift Cards - We will continue to honor the Sierra gift cards. Tongue

Cool Sierra is evolving and we welcome the new ownership by The House!!

very good news! "TruSnow?"..hmm..I guess i'll get used to that name..but that's nitpicking..most important things are that the staffs are here to stay, few changes will be made and MORE products will be offered..can't go wrong with that.

I wonder though if the 50-70% super awesome sale would still be allowed..

excellent news nonetheless..woo hoo!!!!!

Great news!  To bad I already used my gift certificate since I didn't know if it would be accepted. Can't complain though since I'll be getting a Sierra Crew!  Can't wait to try it out this winter.

Excited about the changes upcoming.  I'm sure the changes will be for the better and with the uncertainty gone, people can stop worrying and making assumptions.

Looking forward to the full 2011 lineup.

Does this mean you'll be carrying Lib Tech, K2, Ride, Burton, etc etc...
I figured somebody is going to ask.
Did you google it?

You do realize that those sales are what got Sierra in this predicament in the first place right?

Good to hear the remaining staff will be keeping their jobs, at least that is a good start to the transition...now hopefully some of the other staff members that were laid off will have an opportunity to get their positions back or be extended a chance to take on a different role in the new company.  There are too many good, talented people that lost their jobs in this situation and I would hope that the new ownership is savvy enough to recognize that many of them would be a great asset in helping establish (re-establish is more accurate I guess) the TruSnow brand.

Thanks for the update. Will the old staff be rehired or are they out of luck? At least some staff will be retained.

Any mention if any Sierra branded product will continue to be sold? Colabs in the works still going to be sold?

I hope that this partnership works and do the best thing that has SIERRA to other sites. I never wanted to buy THE HOUSE. They sold at high prices and do not have a good system of online sales. Instead I bought a few thousand to sierrasnowboard and I am more than satisfied. I like too much SS. Luck.

Espero que esta alianza funcione y lleve lo mejor que tiene SIERRA a los otros sitios. Nunca he querido comprar en THE HOUSE. Ellos venden a altos precios y no tienen un buen sistema de ventas on line. En cambio he comprado unos miles a sierrasnowboard y estoy mas que satisfecho. I like too much SS. Suerte.

From what I've heard, they will likely remain in some manner, but need to not violate any vendor agreements. I'd say hold tight till the new member's benefits get hammered out and released

From what Doug mentioned in chat earlier today, the Sierra hardbranded stuff (bags, gloves) are on hold right now due to the branding change (but don't be surprised if they surface again). As I understand it, the soft-branded collabs (S90s, Sierrascope) are still going strong.

dude give it up, it's gone now. There's a new program in place in the fall. No need to whine about it.

I for one am glad we got an official update. It is a relief to get some straight up answers without the chance of it only being a possibility. Clap

I desperately wanted to believe that post was being sarcastic/facetious. Sadly, based on ianbejammin's other posts, it's clear it's not. It almost proves why a points overhaul is in order.

Hmm... I'm still on the fence about it all. I'll wait until the dust settles to form an opinion of the changes. However, if it keeps SS in business, there's no negative in that.
