We celebrated the last day of free entrance to the National Parks by dropping Dragon's Tail Couloir in RMNP.  One of the top five drops I've ever done.

HAHA did anyone make it to the end of both ponds?!!? We have a 100ft pond skim at Canyons and it's insane. I can't imagine how hard making it to the end would be with a transition in the middle! HAHA.
And that's the cleanest looking pond ever! Freakin swimming pool.

SERIOUSLY.  Every pond skim I've ever seen has been a black cesspool looking hole.  That thing is just crystal clear, how did they even do that?

They showed some video on the news last night and it looked like the second every person hit the water they went down hard.  They had a little jump going off into it so that basically took away away chance of skating across it.

well...the pond doesn't look like a cesspool because theres still a 100+ inch base and they built the feature friday(piled up snow on top of the normal base then dug it out)....and filled the pools saturday morning prior to kicking off the skim at 3:00... there were plenty of people having no problem clearing both ponds... plenty of awesome costumes... a naked dood... 2 mono-skiers.... couple flips from upper to lower pond(these guys were coming in HOT to the top)... all ages from like 11-50s... a couple who had just got married that morning (still in their dress and tux)

the lower pond ended up getting a slow leak but was able to hold water til the end of the contest so it was no big deal

I've heard Big Sky had record attendance on saturday and i believe it bc it was Colorado packed and one of the best spring days i've EVER had... crushed some untouched light fluffy pow lines in the morning on the upper mtn then slayed that spring snow the rest of the day
MOAR powderz plz!

So two weeks ago my son turned 3, and last week we took him skiing for the first time.

This is a vid I put together of his progress in just one day.
He's a total natural.  If you want to see him ski, just skip ahead to about the 4 minute mark and he starts tearing it up.

days 11 & 12 (weekend of may 1) - Wasn't really that stoked to go up, seeing as the weather was supposed to be in the 50s.  However, there was supposedly still 10 feet of base at the top and I just received my new boots/bindings - wanted to try them out and get them adjusted before next season Wink.

Sat only got up in the high 40s the snow stayed super fast all day (didn't hurt I had just waxed my board).  There were a lot of people riding, but it pissed me off the parks had all be neglected and their lifts weren't running (woulda never happened if the resort were still owned by Big Bear).

Sunday got up to the high 50s, but there was a nice cool breeze that kept the slush surprisingly fast.  Fools were riding in only boardshorts, but I know they were cold...hell, I was cold with an underlayer and shell.  Later in the day, I even got some nice soft tree rides in.

Highlight of the weekend was a huge/perfect BS 1 off an untracked hip in the trees...second was a small BS 3 off a side hit.  "Lowlight" was a FS 1 that booted me much higher/farther than I was expecting, faceplanting me with my camera in my chest pocket...I may have another cracked rib Ouch.

Other than no parks, this was the best conditions I've ever seen up there on the last day of the season...no walking.  Great season with record snow and I got in twice as many days as I thought I would Smile.

only bare spots on the whole mtn were down by the base lodge (on the right):

I'm so jealous you guys got to ride so late into the season. My home base is Wachusett outside Boston, so it all closed on April 3.

This is kind of late, but I just finished editing a video with some of my friends. Conditions were pretty sick - filmed it over two or three days.

just resaved/uploaded this video in HD from last december... head cam stuff is way better this way. this year i will have an HD powershot too so i'm going full HD and all the footage will be 16:9 instead of having some wide and some 3:4 like this one. pretty stoked.

Looks like tons of fun.  The coverage looks pretty thin since you can see the shapes of boulders and trees sticking up, but looks like you guys made it out with no issues.  I've never hiked to go riding, mainly because I got nobody to do it with.

My friend that knows a lot of the areas really well joined the air force and another friend of mine that probably would do it, I wouldn't want to put my life in his hands if something went bad.

definitely thinner coverage but it was over waist deep that day, just not much of an actual base underneath.  it's good and bad... bad is the risk of hitting something underneath which isn't guaranteed, but what is guaranteed is the deep, untouched snow, and the defined features is a huge plus.  about 2 weeks after that i had another great pow hike and hit one of the most unique line of features i've ever ridden.  it was like pillows, but it was pillars of snow on top of stumps in a line... basically you were hitting big knobs of snow on top of the stumps as you were going down a face, so you would gap between each one rather than simply dropping like you do with pillows.  i'll make sure to do that line again this year, it was insanely fun.

A GoPro looks like a fun thing to have, I don't really want to spend money on one though.

I have a friend who just bought one to take on vacation to Belize to film underwater.  I'm sure he hasn't used it since then and won't use it again for a while.  Maybe I'll take him out to dinner a few times then ask to borrow it.

I used to think they were stupid, because I'd see the kids in the park spending all day recording each other doing lame ass tricks.  I'd much rather just go ride then worry about making a video for my friends on Facebook.

Being able to go back and relive an epic pow day seems awesome though.

that's a contourHD and it sucks.  gopro's way better, glad i got one.  i plan to use it for normal filming though, followcams through pow, or posting up at the top of a pillow line or drop and film people.  also gonna use it as a head cam but i'm gonna try not to over do that.  it's rad as a head cam as long as it's good terrain, like pillows.

these are two good examples, filmed with gopros.

Hey everyone! I know the season is over and what not, but I've just started putting together some of the footage I got with my GoPro last season. Soooo here's a few of them, nothing particularly special, just some good ole amateur fun times!

Enjoy!

Hell yeah another Columbus boy!
That I beam in the alley...pass that at least once a week, always wanted to ride it in the winter...looks fun as hell.
And props to whoever tried that long ass rail in frat row. That rail is SKETCHY. Hit me up this winter if your crew wants another person to ride with around town. I have NO ONE that does urban/park so it gets pretty old for me after a bit. I'm a hell of a good shoveler/ramp builder!LOL
I'll show you some cool places in the glen echo ravine.

those videos spenser posted are actually a rider from the resort I ride at. he rides for stevens pass snowboard shop. I finally have a program to edit my gopro footage from last season. its nothing special at all, but it was all filmed with my gopro and most edits i'm going to post were all filmed over one day.

Yea he's an awesome rider, his videos are simple too yet they are all super rad for just being filmed with a gopro.

I've definitely been inspired by Wainhouse to do a little more filming and spend a little more time hiking lines. I got my Gopro last season and it's the first camera I've ever had so I learned a lot last season and I'm ready to start doing some cooler stuff (just bought all the parts to build a steadicam, which I'm gonna mount on a painters pole for some sweet shots).
