a lot of people including me are looking for green union forces, but they are impossible to get now! theres this australian site that still has them for about 330 aud, but no ones gonna pay that much. i know if you just paint a pair of bindings neon green it wont be the same, it will still make them look fresher! who has painted bindings? does the pain flake off after a while? post pics!

HEY!
That's me. Lol. In Derby's first post. Just letting you know, I haven't actually posted pictures of the epic aftermath of what hard shredding can do to them. I basically killed them at Mammoth this summer. But still, everything was basically fine, but the paint chipped a bit off the leather (as people said it would), but it ended up looking pretty cool - kind of vintage now. It surprisingly didn't really come off the high back (the plastic parts were completely fine, and the only reason some parts of the rubber padding came off were because the rubber padding was falling apart to begin with - the remainder was basically intact). The base was also perfectly fine, but you basically just have to make sure you cover it with a clear coat as well, which is just a layer of plastic to protect the paint. Some people think it's important to scrape off the original layer of paint in order to make sure the paint bonds to the plastic, but I attempted that on an isolated part of the binding, and I found the paint in the end to be bumpy. And what's more, the parts directly over the previous layer of paint remained perfectly intact. Link for anyone who missed it: http://www.sierrasnowboard.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=36690&PN=1 |

I just did this but I dis it the right way, you need to wetsand and wash the bindings then prime them with a non oil based primer you can get it at Walmart then wait till the primer is semi tacky and spray your color let each coat id your color dry till.tacky and add more Coats till they are covered then you need to let them dry for about 4 hours next go to a real Auto paint store that mixes paint I used a clear coat called jamb-it a high gloss car clear coat the same as you would see on a car but in a can spray 3-4 Costa letting each coat dry 1-2 hours then let them dry for at least 2-5 days and they wont chip it will look like they came that color
I'm working on making them look even cooler by using my wife's Cricut die cutter machine to add graphics I pained mine lime green . But now I'm spraying where I want the graphics black then I lay my decals down and spray the rest green And will then peal off the decals and then clear coat Its very very easy and they will last like any other binding will no chipping or flaking |

Crappy Crappy Healside bindings that were white and gold before hand Lime/ Neon Green Custom Job cost me like 30$ to do , with the gold and white they match pretty do good Jambit-Clear coat, 18$ (this is real Auto Clear Coat in a can Not crap Dupont) Neon Paint Walmart 3$ Sand Paper 3$ Any White Paint, or Primer Semi Gloss, 5$ The Trick to keep it from chipping 1.Use Nail Polish Remover, or goof off, to rub away any Graphics printed on 2. Use soap and water and a scouring pad to wash off all the chems 3. Wet Sand the Bindings in the Sink with warm water, let Dry fully 4. Prime over any dark colors with White primer(Non Oil Based) 5. Before the Primer is fully dry get your first coat of color on there (This helps them bond together and hold the paint on) 6. Apply 2-3 coats of your color every 30-45 mins dont let the color fully try so it keeps building on top and bonding together 7. Allow the color to dry for 3-5 hours 8. Clear Coat ! Dont use $hit clear coat get something decent Spray one heavy Coat on, let Dry for 1 hour, then Do another every hour 3-4 Coats you will start to see it look like Glass ontop let it dry for 24 hours I would let it dry for 1-5 days just to be safe Ive tried to scratch mine with my nails, and it stays on soo solid |

Could potentially look sit because of them flaking. Could potentially look sweet because of them flaking adding cool unique character. It's risky business dude. Good luck tho!
