i think that might be a bit harsh.. they had to deal with a few injuries in the finals, and a KG that really didn't show up. And they still took it all the way to a game 7. I agree they could use a bit more depth on the squad.. but I dont think Shaq is the right man. I'd love to be proved wrong, but that would likely require shaq actually working out.. so i don't see that happening.

i'm with gifted. if the celtics didn't have perkins going down in the playoffs against the lakers, i don't think the lakers would have won. i really don't think shaq will do much even though he did slim down.

nowadays, shaq can be really good at times but most of the time he's just average.  just a big body to clog up the lane.

Miami in the pre-season have shown without Lebron and Wade they are a bunch of hacks + Bosh, come playoffs they are going to struggle

I agree that Perkins was a big lost going down the stretch and the bench cost them Game 7. I am still hopeful that Shaq will add some depth. It seems that is the minority opinion.

If he faked his injury without brandishing a firearm he's making progress. Way to go Gilbert. I knew you had it in you all along. Heart of a champion.

Last night i went to garfield highschool in seattle and watched the trailblazers split up their team and play a scrimage. The tickets were only $5!!! Im a lakers fan but imma still be watchin the blazers cuz im from reno and 2 guys from UNR, Luke Babbit(1st round pick) and Armon Johnson, both got drafted to portland so ill be excited to see them play. I actually played a little bit of basketball with Armon at a UNR Basketball camp a few years back. So those are the 2 teams ill wanna watch most.

he was hobbling last year too and they won.  matt barnes and steve blake were good pickups over the summer.  i was at university of maryland when steve blake played there.  he's a pass first point guard which is a good fit for the lakers.  From last years roster, they definitely improved.

Without Bynum, the Lakers can still beat the Heat. Who does the Heat have that will actually scare amongst the front line?

They have about 5 scrubs on their roster who they can throw at the Lakers bigs to give 6 fouls each a game rofl.... that is bout all...

IMO instead of Bosh, Wade and Lebron should have teamed up with Dwight or Lopez or another "good" youngish Center who is dominant on the defensive end.

Wade and Lebron are awesome wing defenders, but Bosh is not a great interior/paint defender and his going to have jack crap help lol.

Chicago is going to beat up on these guys I reckon, and Boston is going to cause them major problems as well.

I'm looking forward to the 2011 MVP, Kevin Durant, to make a good playoff run this year, along with the most improved player Russell Westbrook.

I feel like he is gonna be dealt. He may be a great player, but if he has an attitude of not wanting to be in Denver, he's not gonna put his full effort into games.

Cast of talent? o.O what are you smoking, i just see Lebron/Wade/Bosh + scrubs + washed up vets chasing a ring. Stackhouse has been useless for at least 3-4 years.

Dude stackhouse can barely run up and down the floor. If the Heat get one of their big 3 injured, they will not perform. Eddie House? Big Z? LOL

I agree.  I'm from Denver and got lots of love for The Thuggets...but Carmelo wants out and I think it will show in his play.  Or perhaps he will get even better to try and increase his value?  Interesting to see how the other Thuggets will react to him on the court.  I was at the Jazz playoff series last year things were definitely heated between Melo and Adrian Dantely and his teammates.

I'm getting excited, only a few more days!  Seems like we are going to make it through the pre-season without any catastrophic injuries.

I'm actually curious to see how Yao holds up, even with the reduced minutes.  He is a free agent next year isn't he?

Man it's cool to see some support for the Lakers.  They've had a great offseason.  They made no big moves, just solid ones that make then deeper and tougher.

I'm intrigued by Miami.  I have a hard time imagining how they will share the ball.  I also wonder if there will be issues between Wade and James.  James is used to having his own team, where everything was build around him.  I think Miami is still clearly Wade's team.

Another great thing about the NBA season is that I have another excuse to go out and have some drinks.
