Have you ever ridden in Gudauri, Georgia (not USA, its middle east)???
If not, its time to try! Why? Gudauri is a young and rapid developing winter sports resort, located at Kazbegi region of Georgia, 120 km from capital Tbilisi, at the height of 2,196 m (about 7,200 feet). Skiing season lasts from December to April. In November and May skiing is possible on the highest lift. Heli Ski is available throughout the season. The lower lift station is at 1,990 m (6,500 feet), and the top station is at 3,307 (10,849 feet!!!) But the most famous of Gudauri is the free-ride, a downhill out of any routes! Gudauri provides best opportunities for this extreme and excitement action. Deep snow, boulder-free slopes and avalanche-safe area – the Mecca of free-ride! Numerous out-of-route slopes are available for heli-ski and backcountry! Gudauri's helicopters are serviced and operated by the Swiss company "Alpin Travel" Ltd and Austrian company "Eastwolf Heliski" The main reason you MUST visit Gudauri is the LOWEST prices in the world: **Transportation from Tbilisi to Gudauri - about 7-10 GEL per person ( approximately 4 euros, 5 USD)by minibus ; **The one day lift pass - 25 GEL ( its about 10 euros, 13 USD); **Accommodation - 30 USD per person per night ( fitting the European standards) its the price for renting a flat. You can get a room in hotels as well, but its more expensive. So I advice you to rent a flat. If you are interested, I can find one for you! You can get to Georgia quite easily from every country of Europe and US. THere are flights almost every day to capital TBilisi. And from Tbilisi to Gudauri minibuses run every 2 hours, in just 1 hour 30 minutes with no stops so you can just sit back and relax all the way to your destination. Here is a short video about heliski in Gudauri. It was made this year by international guests. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E2jghKeOMiw Thats all for the moment but I will drop some other videos and links in the nearest future;) |

Would you mind to tell us a little bit more about the political situation in and around that ski-resort?
And actually...is this just an advert of a bot or do you at least response on questions? Georgia is kind of an Eu-country. It's perhaps geographically European but it's not in the European union. |

Hello there,
I don't think that it makes any sense whether Georgia is in European union or not, The MAIN thing is that It definitely is a perfect, the cheapest and PEACEFUL(I mean political situation;)) place for snowboarders and skiers! (But if you want to know the truth, Georgia definitely is in Europe) Firstly, nowadays the number of snowboarders in Georgia is less then the number of skiers. And I want to improve it. Besides Georgia is the one of the richest countries with its natural resources so I want the world to know more about it. And the main aim of my post: There is no gain for me whether you arrive or not. The point is that I want to give the young snowboard-addicts like me opportunity to spend an unforgettable, exotic and LONG holidays, riding in stunningly beautiful high mountains and all this - nearly free! ( when spending a couple of days in alps worth them 4-5 times more) That's all my friend It's up to you Cheers :) |
