So I didn't really see any huge threads for the NHL... But I was hearing some things that the Canucks were going to win the Stanley cup this year... Who do you guys think's gonna win?

I'm just scared with all these expectations for the canucks that they might fold under the pressure.  They looked good tonight though, and that is how they would have to play for the majority of the season.  Their start so far has been quite odd.  There hasn't been any part of their play that could really be picked on apart from taking too many penalties.  They been playing decently, but it's not what is expected of them.

I'm pretty sure they'll shake of the shaky start and quite easily take the Northwest division.  How far they go in the playoffs is a whole different matter.  They definitely have the players to take Lord Stanley, they just can't beat themselves like they so often do.

hahaha don't mean to bash the leaves, but they're terrible.. then again... the canucks have sucked under pressure every time. plus i'm glad luongo gave up the C- I say it's probably the best thing he's done as a captain.

It's all about the Blackhawks again baby, they lost a few guys but gained some good found talent, and kept the guys that can score, I bet if not this year they'll get it again in 2012

The blackhawks I don't think will win it again this year because they lost a ton of they're key players from last season... but picking up new players next season and adding the ones they currently have might help them next season.

the red wings on the other hand are a 1 and a half line team. sorry bud. not happening from them for a while

You either have a strong hate for the Red Wings or don't know jack-shit about hockey.

I would invite you to look through the Red Wings roster and tell me how a roster of players like that only equals a "1 and a half line team"...

how about the Kings? I know seems lame to say out loud but they are young and improving yearly. They could make a run this year.  I do not know about J Quick as net minder though.

Give the Kings a couple more years to get their younger core experience and they will be a force in West for sure.

the penguins look really good this year.  i think it's really stupid to guess who's going to win it all before at least 2/3 of the season is done.  it's pretty much a free for all once the playoff teams are set anyways.  it's all about momentum.

Right now, the playoff picture is looking good. I think the two teams to beat in the east will be Boston and philly, with the west Detroit and Vancouver. Personally, my ideal stanley cup final would be Minnesota Wild and Boston Bruins.

You are ridiculous as the Wings have some of the best depth in the entire NHL.  Their 3rd line could be Toronto's first.  They are a scary team to be watched and they are more importantly, a playoff team.  Vancouver might be one and out similar to Washington of the last few years.  Some teams have great regular season success but not playoff success.

One thing that will help them is the fact that Byfuglien is now in a different conference, he was devastating to the Nucks for the past few years in the playoffs.

Boston is looking great with the addition of Kaberle and Peverley, although Philly is still the team to beat in the east, they are friggin great (coming from a bruins fan).

The Avalanche just destroyed their entire team, ridiculous moves.

Calgary looking hot along with New Jersey (hedberg playing unbelievable).

Ottawa is a disaster of the #1 order along with Edmonton

With the immense injuries to Crosby and Malkin I don't think the Pens have much of a chance, especially since they are probably only going to slide in the rankings and have to face a much tougher team in the first round.

Sharks are the typical regular season performers that have never had any success in the playoffs.  I love Thornton but he's gotta pick up his game come the playoffs, for ONCE

Maybe he won't even have to if Couture, Marleau, Seto, and Clowe keep playing well.

The putrid Aves won't even be appearing in the playoffs.  Was any team more decimated by the salary cap than us???  We haveen't done sh!t since.  I don't count last years playoff appearance as doing something, that used to be the norm.

CANUCKS ALL THE WAY!!!!!
I'm from Canada so I kinda know a little about hockey, and from what I've seen so far this season the Canucks have a pretty good chance. I think it'll be the Canucks and Lightning in the final.

I think you should really not take for granted every hockey season now and treat every Stanley Cup Finals as if it will be the last...because it actually could be!  Ouch

SJ SHARKS

In all other years, they start off super strong and fade at the end...

this year they started crap but have turned it up as of late, first in the pacific as of now... playing their best hockey now and should be able to sustain it through the playoffs

kind of how the SF Giants did the same thing... meaningful games down to the wire got them playing consistently at a high level...

Kovalev goes to the Pens, they could be a bad team to play against this post season when Crosby and Malkin are back up to speed.

If they can somehow motivate Kovalev to actually play, he is a dangerous guy.

Sharks are killing it lately too, but again they are a regular season team.

The Red Wings won't go anywhere with Howard and Ozzie playing the way they have of late, there is a reason they were trying to sign Nabby.  Luongo only plays well for Team Canada so the Canucks are out, Sharks will get dangerously close to success, realize they are about to win, then gift wrap a series win for the other team.  Kings are too young, and Lombardi still doesn't have the scoring center he wanted (WTF was his thinking with Sturm?) but with Bryzgalov, I like the Coyotes doing some damage if he can get white hot.  Keith Yandle was a sleeper in my FHL and he's killing it.  If they get healthy I like the Desert Dawgs chances.

But I'd sell every soul in my family for a Sharks Stanley Cup parade.

The Canicks are a pretty feared team to play this year. Their record is good, and they have a good chance of winning the cup, but they do have a tendency to choke come playoff time.

Canucks are just like the Sharks in the playoffs!

Yotes are looking great for one huge reason:  Bryzgalov!!!  Dude's on a damned tear, I have him in my pool and he's killing it for me.

I see the winners as Philly this year.  They showed huge heart and determination last year and they've only gotten better somehow.  Did Pronger get nailed with a puck in the hand last night though?  Shouldn't keep him out for long as he's a tough guy, but you never know.

If they lose him they lose a big part of their tough (and sometimes dirty) game

Bob isn't the answer for the Flyers in goal.  they might as well trade for Luongo.

devils if they make the playoffs. at least i can bare watching them during the second half of the season. if they don't make it, then i'll be happy with anyone besides the rags, flyers, or pens. i'd like to see the sedin twins win a cup, or the sharks if they can handle the playoffs

Nice win by Boston last night over Vancouver, that was a great game.  Would make for an amazing final.

It was a good test for both teams to see how they matched up in the East vs West battle.

Toronto is starting to scare me and are playing too good for my liking.  I would hate to see them squeak into the #8 seed as I would never hear the end of it.  You might as well get the parade plans going, at least in their minds!

Too bad Philly will smash anyone who finishes in 8th place this year.

Lots of teams still in the hunt for the cup.  Even some of the top teams seem to be having a problem winning games.  Its going to be a down to the wire playoff race.

I'm glad to see so many shark fans on here, good to see people actually watch hockey down there.

Do you guys go to a lot of the games?  I'm closest to Toronto and their prices are unbelievably high (and the team blows).  I normally take in games when I'm in Florida, the tickets are so friggin' cheap

Sharks tickets are pretty damn expensive considering that NHL is generally not as popular here. I can't remember the last time a SJ home game didn't sell out.

Toronto games look like a fun time, seems like the Canadian fans really get into it. I notice a lot of fans dressed like empty seats at Florida games.
