I live in NZ, flatmate is the most common way to call roommates.. but roommates that live in different rooms in the same house? So Americans always call them roommates whether youre actually sharing the same room or not?

Why do I have to write something inside a birthday, xmas, or in this case, a valentines card when it's already got the message? Can't I just sign my name at the bottom?

well looks like the word roommate is used a lot in the states where two people are sharing one joined room at a college campus?... thats just like sharing a bedroom because the rooms got beds in it?
