Where's a good place to snowboard in Tahoe?
I'm going for new years. I've been to Sierra and Homewood. I have 3 boarding days over new years... money is no issue... WHERE SHOULD I GO??? |

^^^ I totally agree about Northstar's park.
But it does get pretty busy on the weekends. Squaw would be my choice. I think it's one of the biggest resorts in Tahoe. |

Sugar Bowl is great if you just want to ride and don't care about the extras.
Northstar has fun trees and a great park, but show up early for good parking and mellow park laps. Kirkwood is one of the best resorts for freeriders. Squaw has epic terrain and a ton of eats in the village. Alpine has great mountain terrain and great steeps. Boreal is craziness and all park. Homewood is the best for hidden trees days after the powder storm. Sierra has great trees and fun boulder drops. That should get you started...

sugar bowl is pretty good as far as crowds go, almost every lift is a high speed quad so lines don't usually get to bad, and there's a lot of fun terrain. As long as you're there to ride not lodge pimp, it's a great resort.

Stay away from Heavenly and Northstar during the holidays. Lots of crowds and mentally challenged beginners flooding all the runs. You'll spend more time in the lift line than actually riding. Skiers like kirkwood, Boarders like Sierra but both are a ton of fun. Kirkwood has a lot of traversing in order to get to the backside which is is where all the good stuff is. Sierra has nice steep trees and fun boulder drops everywhere, plus they have the best parks in south lake.

Um this pretty much sums it up. Be aware that people are recommending Kirkwood without telling you it is off the beaten path. So if you choose Kirkwood look into how far it is of a drive from where you are staying. Also be aware that some of these hills on on North Shore and some are on South Shore...North Shore has more options if you want to ride several resorts.

Heck yes, I'm wicked stoked! Haven't been to Tahoe in a few years, but am finally making my return for 6 days at the end of Jan! More than likely we'll be riding Northstar, Heavenly and Sierra since they are already on my Colorado season pass. However, we will probably ride at least one more day at another mountain! Can't wait! Our crew will be out there from 27Jan-1Feb so anyone who wants to shred hit me up!

I recommend Northstar, especially with a group. The mountain is decently large, there can be a good variety of parks/"adventure parks", and the village is pretty sick. Plus I like how it's pretty close to Tahoe City, good places to eat/stay the night.

i've never been to CO but Tahoe is great, especially south shore. it's got casinos, the lake, Heavenly is right there, and other resorts is fairly close (within an hour drive), and theres also other activities which is also fun like snowmobiles, parasailing, night life, etc.
