I wanted to get some opinions on the Custom Bindings, Mission, Mission EST and Cobra Sharks... I've heard about toe strap defects from a few guys. Any thoughts?

Um well if you get an EST binding you need a board with the channel system

The customs are really soft. If it was me, I'd do Missions or Cartels if money permitted.

I had Mission 2009 and 2010, and no problem and my son use Custom, more softer than Mission, but both it's ok

Burton Missions have been one of my favorite bindings and are a great binding for the money. The only things ever to wear out on a pair of 06 Missions were the binding ladders other than that they still look new.

The custom has some upgraded parts so it's decent.
But f you're going to spend the money on mission or mission ESTs, cartels are only touch more. |

I got Cartels. I had Customs.
No complaints either way. But I looove my cartels. And I dig the toe strap. I feel more in control.. |

It depends on how you want to ride. If you want more responce go with the missions (Cartels are better) but if you want a loose and playful ride, customs. Its all about how you ride when it comes to boards and bindings.

Custom is very nice choice. In past I used it and I stayed pleased. But now I have Cartels and this binding better.

the mission has a couple good upgrades from the custom and are also noticeably more responsive.
buy the custom if you like softer bindings and its all you can afford. buy the mission if you want some quality but dont want to break the bank and prefer an average flex - nothing stiff, nothing soft.

unless you're getting a burton board with the channel system, you don't need to worry about EST.
also... i feel like unless you REALLY REALLY want burton bindings, i'd skip out on the missions and spend 5 bucks more for unions forces or rome 390s. my friend has customs though and he loves them. it's all up to you. and if you really want the missions, find them for cheaper or else you're selling yourself short

i really like the missions. more of an all mountain binding with tons of cushion and the toe straps are really helpful. the EST mission and regular missions are the same. i like the missions overall more.

cobra sharks are new this year and i rode them all week at hcsc. they are burtons main park binding and ride very well if you have another burton board. I didnt like them as much with boards without the est system. overall they were pretty soft but not to flexy i would buy them. Also i didnt see any strap problems.

I've had a pair of the customs and now the cartels. No problems with the toe straps on either. I like the cartels better, but if you like softer bindings go for the customs, they are a great bang for the buck.

how would the missions compare to the freestyle binding.
I have been using the freestyle and wondering if somthing stiffer might be better for the mountain...

The Freestyle is significantly more softer and less responsive than the Mission.

I would probably go with the customs because i have heard great things about them. I think it is all a personal opinion because everyone has a different opinion.

I wouldn't touch the customs unless you just want some cheap est bindings.

Thanks for all your replies. I went with the 11' Missions to start out, but I have a feeling they'll be just what I need.
Rock on. |

customs aren't close to cartels... but i think they are solid bindings... materials are different i think overall quality is better with the cartel.. but i think the customs are a solid binding. i haven't had any problems with mine.
