what is the worst ski resort/mountain you have ever been to. Was it the service, or lack of maintenance?

Wintergreen in VA hands down the worst place I've ever ridden. I'm not sure why they call it Wintergreen, at least the winter part. The snow was terrible! Emphasis on terrible. It was all non-natural snow and it was more icey than I've ever experienced, and I've grown up riding the east coast. The name should be changed to Winterbrown because the mountain wasn't even covered in snow, in the middle of the winter. I suppose that's a true testament to how little snow they get there. But their lack of snow-making left a lot to be desired. I don't mean to sound like a complainer, but don't go to Wintergreen! Save your money and head north or out west.

wachusett in ma is one of the closest mts to boston. besides night hours, this place is horrible because of how packed it gets. its really only a great place to teach friends because of how close it is.

actually its normally less crowded during the day in my experience, although i do agree that generally its awful, if you can figure out and avoid the nights when schools go, and just ride singles (normally) it isnt that bad, and only ride trails at night after they groom..., and nashoba, blue hills and ski ward simply dont count, therefore it definitely is the closest ski area, I would not call it a mountain in any sense.

I went to Wintergreen last year during one of the big storms and it wasnt all that bad.  What you are describing as a bad experience is largely based on the weather conditions, not their fault.

The mountain isnt anything special (comparable with other mountains close by), but the food was good and they have a really nice bar/restaurant.  That goes a long way with me.

The only thing negative i have to say about Wintergreen is the ticket prices, they are VERY high for what you get.  I think i paid $66 for an all day ticket, thats just too high for such a small mountain.

I remember one time when i went to liberty mountain( i go like 40 time a year) I got out of the car and i dropped my gloves. Some guy saw me drop them and infront of his family he stole them. I didnt completely see him steal it but i know he did, because the park was vacant and he was right behind me.

Thunder Ridge in NY was the worst! 500 foot mountain with leaking pipes, rocks in the trails and overcrowded to boot. Went there on a scout trip, complete waste of time.

anywhere south of VT on the east coast really sucks...terrible snow, always super icy, small, lack of terrain, crowded, and way too expensive for what they are.

The first resort i went to was the worst. They only had one hill and a few jumps but it was a good resort to learn on without spending too much.

i dont kno if anyone has been to paoli but its a tiny resort with the smallest hills. you get to the bottom in like 15 seconds and wait forever for the lift.

Most of the "mountains" in CT where I'm from aren't great main;y because of their lack of vertical.  Usually they have good snow coverage and grooming though throughout their seasons.  I would nominate Magic mountain as the worst place I've ever been.  They have no excuse, being a Vermont mountain and all, but when I went there the conditions were terible.  Ungroomed, icy, and impossibly slow lifts.  I took one run then just asked for my money back.

The hill we rode at in highschool took a lot of crap but I loved it. Sure it was tiny, had one lift, overpriced food, and was overrun with entitled rich kid skiiers, but it was a great place to hang out and was really close to home. I always figure the place is what you make of it.

snow snake in michigan... 1 chair lift and 4 ropes. Charged me for a $24 lift ticket, wouldnt go back even if it was free. Their terrain park was more like a rain park, nothing but shovel built jumps and rusty rails. Im also pretty sure that in order to get hired there you had to be missing at least half your teeth. haha
