This is the first vid I've made with my gopro.  Just a little intro.  This was yesterday.  We have had almost 10 FEET of new snow since last Friday.  For some reason the canyons were not resricted to 4x4 or awd.  Well maybe they weren't but for god sakes IT'S SNOWED 10 shtooking FEET.  MAYBE, JUST MAYBE, YOU SHOULDN'T BE TRYING TO DRIVE YOUR POS HYUNDAI UP THE CANYON.  Now with the invention of the GoPro I can document those stupid people.

And another thing, say you do get in this situation, great.  TURN THE shtook around.  Don't sit on the road spinning your tires for hours going nowhere.  You fail at life.

There is barely any snow on the road?!....man, Utah needs help, so do you...looks like you kick the wheel out WAY more than needed...you get grip and you're off the road just like your friends.

from your video, those road conditions are not that bad.  the road looks pretty clear.  You don't need AWD or 4x4s.

I've driven a lowered honda civic in much worse conditions.

What do mean get grip?  It was nuking snow.  There was no grip to be had.   Also I find that more snow is actually easier to drive in than just a little bit of snow.

I've seen driving conditions that were much worse and still managed to drive through it. I don't see what the big deal is with these videos.

"all season" tires for you right there.

Get the winters, they are worth it.

I've got the BFGoodrich KSIs and they are excellent.  Low noise and excellent grip

And this is the mentality that ended up all these people off the road.  Nothing short of chains would have got them up the hill.  I don't think your honda civic would have made it up under these circumstances.

You may think that your Superior driving skill will help you but the fact remains these cars are just not capable.  Notice how the 3 Subaru's in the vid had 0 problems.

I think everyone who snowboards regularly should just get snowtires to go up to the mtns. It would just make life that much easier

I just find people in Subaru's or 4x4 trucks driving half the speed limit when it's flurrying annoying. Happens all the time near my mountain thank god there is a lot of passing zones.

I drive a honda civc with all wheels having studded snow tires....I've never had a problem unless the snow is over a 1 1/2 feet or deeper. I get the chain law for commercial vehicles but I rarely see 4x4 laws here

i drove my civic through 10 winters.  half of those were on all seasons and the other half I switched to winters because I bought rims and summer tires.  I've never even seen chains before I went to mammoth.

I went to mammoth beginning of december and everyone kept telling me I needed chains on my rental (cobalt).  To be honest, it started to scare me.  I got there... saw the signs that said chains are required... then I saw the road was completely fine so I ignored the signs.  the road was a little slick but there was absolutely no need for chains.

Despite what you think.  there is a certain level of skill required to drive in winter.  unfortunately people with 4x4 and AWD usually don't have those skills because they have a false sense of security.

Sad thing is it doesn't take much to get up the canyon with that little amount of snow. I took my moms car (AWD) with bald tires and made it up... it's more about how you drive in the snow rather than what you drive.

It's not how deep the snow is thats getting cars stuck going up the canyons around here. It's the grade of the incline. Once you lose momentum the vehicle's weight will start pulling the vehicle back down the hill. This is where the fwd starts to fail, with the weight behind the drive axle not in front of it. Only good traction from good tires will save it at this point.

grade or not,"i have awd, 4wd, and i am invincible" attitude is killer, and it's people in the vid, driving with one hand, not paying attention, driving to fast, jerking the wheel around, and braking too hard that are in the ditch eventually. their only saving grace thus far, is that they have awd. in the vid, what was the one vehicle truly f**ked? the suburban, off the road up the embankment, good luck with that one...by the way, not sure where this vid is from, but come take loveland, berthoud, vail, rabbit ears, wolf creek, or hoosier pass on,then we'll see what kind of "winter drivers" you are.

I'm not really seeing how that road looks bad at all. The road by my house has looked worse than that since the season started. And when it really snows around here the interstate is more covered than that and much steeper.

Also you would think it was puring rain with how fast you got your wipers going. That would annoy the hell out of me having them going like that for no reason.

Ya... it's ironic that the "idiot" 2wd cars were merely pulled off to the side or standing still in the middle of the road.  While the awesomeness of a big 4wd SUV landed it in the ditch.

there is no argument that 4wd/awd will make it up a steeper incline especially when it is slippery.  however, that does not mean there is no skill in driving uphill in winter.  the same rules apply to 2wd/4wd/awd vehicles.

Cool first Gopro vid. I cant believe you went with
"how to drive like a doosh in a tiny bit of snow" theme.

Another internet warrior appears for the challenge.  I love how you guys can totally grasp the whole driving dynamic from the comfort of your chairs.   Like: "My civic can make it up that"  even though there were three FWD cars going nowhere on the road.  Or, "Oh it's only 2" of snow, I drive through feet of snow".  Good for you here's a shtooking cookie.

You guys don't get it.  These canyons are not to be messed with.  You may think you are the crap and you are gods gift to driving in the snow, but your not.  No one is.  Go ahead and spin your ass into a ditch and see if I care.  The fact is I rutinely see people getting their asses handed to them by these canyons.  So go ahead and try...  Be a dick bag and hold up the rest of Utah trying to get to the hill while they bull your POS civic out of a ditch.

it's a lot worse than that here almost every time I drive up on a pow day...super winding and steep.

I did drive up in my ranger (pickup) last year after 11 feet of snow (beat ya) and there were some hyundai-type cars spinning their wheels on the upgrades (I don't think they had any type of chains).  It was my first chunky ice off-roading to get around them and the fact I coulda slid off into the woods at any point really pissed me off.

Yer driving is almost as shitty as yer snowboarding.

Congrats.

First a keyboard riding advice from a few pics.

Then keyboard driving advice from a vid.  Are you really that shtooking cool that you think you are an all knowing shtooking master of the internet.  Get a shtooking life.  Or better yet get off your ass and ride and quit being a dick bag you son of a bitch.

Having met Miggity Mac in  person, I feel safe saying he actually IS that fvcking cool, and has been posting damn near daily Gopro vids of him riding on FB.
A thermos keeps hot stuff hot, and cold stuff cold.....BUT HOW DOES IT KNOW???
