Which board do u reccomend-

look at ebay or something, try to get a Custom V rocker. Cant go wrong with it

There are plenty of options for $300 & less. Just make sure it has the features that you need: tru twin, flex that you're comfortable with; 156cm is probably a good base for your frame (+if you want more speed / - for more of a freestyle feel), & older models will get you more for your $. Most 2011 boards won't have significant improvements vs. the previous model, except for new graphics.
Honestly, you should do some research, check it out in-stores, and then bargain shop online. If anything, it'll make you feel more comfortable about your purchase than going off of a reply.

There's so many options right now for under $300. If you want a stiff board, check out the Salomon Drift Magnum. Sweet board and ultra-responsive partly due to an equalizer side-cut. Great stability at high speeds.

a 158 sierra stunt would be a good board for you. Or you couls try a 2009 burton blunt.

I would go with the sierra crew or r crew, just cuz you said your a more freeride oriented. I take it that's more of a resort cruiser type. So yeah. Crew or rcrew in my opinion

for your location, riding style, and especially budget, i would go with the sierra crew.

hey tas those size 11 boots aren't going to work out for you you should buy the same size or smaller prob smaller I'd say go a half size down for you boarding boots.

board: sierra crew

bindings: burton cartel or union dlx (could u tell me which is better)

boots: dc phase size 11 ( i wear 10.5 street. will they fit?)

I DONT THINK YOU CAN GO WRONG WITH ANY BURTON BOARD

You don't have to spam your own topic especially when it's only 14 minutes apart from your last post.  Don't be so needy.  I haven't tested out Capita before so I can't say but I have only heard good things about that brand, but I can say about the Sierra boards, Stunt and Reverse Crew, and they are pretty solid boards and they don't chip and scratch so easily as my Burton board even though they're made by Burton as well.

Yeah, I use it almost strictly for "free riding"  But i live in MN so we don't really have any really big hills around.

The board probably would be a little too short for serious mountain free riding.

But if you are just riding around on groomers as you learn the smaller size might not be a horrible choice.  


It is tough giving advice over the internet, since you don't really know how someone rides or their style or skill level.  

If you think it is 152 is too short it is probably best to go with that instinct.


I think someone mentioned it about but they have a 2010 capita quiver killer that is a 155 priced at 250ish.  that might suit your free riding style better.

I'm 6' 160ish with a size 12 boot and i ride that board.  Well mine is the stairmaster technically, but they are the exact same board except the graphics.  Works great for me.

the only size is 152. its too small for me. but ill look other places

i'd recommend finding a board you like and then seeing if you can find it in your price range. I mainly free ride as well but i hit the occasional kicker and half pipe. So the board i got was a Rome Agent. I was able to get it new for $350 off a guy on Craigslist ($500+ retail). a lot of it was being patient. what board do you have now? that'll help us see where you want to go with your next board. I think the Forum destroyer might be something for you to look at.

I remember seeing them for something like 70% off at one point. I kind of wish I had bought them back then, but I just ordered the board and binding combo a couple of days ago. If you factor in the combo discount, it's only a small increase from the lowest price when you order the two together.

Comparing just the price to other boards, the Sierra boards are way cheaper. If you're on a budget, they are probably your best bet. I don't think that you're ever going to see any board for 50% off anywhere. I think Sierra was the only store to price boards at 50% off or more and now that they've changed owners, the most you're going to see is 40% off on select boards.

As far as a recommendation, I've only ridden a few boards out there(and none that you can find now in that price range), but I've heard good things about the Burton Custom. So, if you decide on a Sierra board, I would recommend either the Crew or Reverse Crew.

I really disagree with this statement.  First, there isn't a Kelley Bluebook for snowboard and a quick check of Craistlist will show that. 

Second, from what I've seen with the Sierra boards, there is *zero* (as in none, nil, cero) difference in quality from those that you'd see with Burton and Capita, who are more or less the brands the boards are based on. 

My own feeling for Burton board quality aside, for a beginner these boards are a very economical way to get a lot of features on a board you can grow into. 

Look at the Sierra boards, they are all under $300 because they are 50% off!
