Topic: Feedback systemPosted: Jan/11/2011 at 10:39am |

First things first, this was not my idea, I'm getting it from Newschoolers.com a skiing website. It works pretty well for them and I cannot think of a reason why not to implement it here, it would help forum users secure that they are legit buyer/seller without having to search through a whole thread to find someone. And not saying we need this instantly, but it would be a good future update imo... I know Trusnow is still doing a lot of stuff.
The Plan: Updated
Just like Newschoolers.com does with their members we need some sort of feedback page on your profile that people can go onto and post if you were a good seller/buyer, but only that. I don't think people should be able to post hate comments of you like how mad you made them, the one thing newschoolers does a lot. It would help get new members that are trying to sell/buy things get a good rep fast and get trusted before to long, which would be a really nice thing. Also shows all the problems people have had with your buying/selling. Seems like a good system that works great for newschoolers, personally I love it. Once again it lets you know the persons actions and if you should deal with them or not.
UPDATES:
Submissions to moderators of a good/bad action of another member WITH proof. Moderators can then either put on feedback page or have a stickied thread with member name and what they did. I prefer the solid member page for everybody »Update Karma Out«
Thoughts below; comments on improvement/suggestions

I saw this new one right after I replied to the other thread. I voted yes as your idea would be a good addition to the community.

Like rook said, this is going to end up being 1000+ yes and around 10 no(noobs being homosexual but a no go on the feedback system. We all know trusnow is still undergoing major maintenance, so if they even accept the proposal, it could be years before anything happens. For now, you're doing the right thing. Once you get a significant amount of votes, send the link in to the admins and staff, but until then, you've got my vote.

We will see if trusnow will be able to implement changes as fast as the old sierra management used to be.

i vote yes, but there would have to be a way to regulate who gives feedback, like on ebay. if anyone can leave feedback for anyone, a scammer could go make a few profiles or get friends to leave positive feedback, when really he/she hasnt sold anything.

Definitely need a good seller bad seller feedback system. The last thing i bought from a forum had a trader point/feedback system and i was confident about the seller. If it wasn't for that i don't think i could trust any forum sellers on any site.
The karma thing you mentioned not needed and will be abused by me. I will give out a ton of negative karma if implemented. |

As I am a skier and have bought stuff from buyers on NS i am telling you the feedback system is a very comforting thing when buying from people you don't know and it would be a great addition on this site. That said buyers should still do everything in their power to protect themselves, like sell locally or use paypal

^^Also, when people shtook around with the feedback, you send NS administrators an abuse message and people can be banned off the site permanently. As a result, I have honestly seen no feedback abuse. Its really good NS cracks down on kids abusing this

That is a really great point and I totally agree. This issue would certainly make the whole system more difficult/costly to implement though, so I'm guessing it's unlikely to happen any time soon. Personally, I'd rather have no feedback system than one that is unreliable/abused - it's unfortunate that we can't easily trust the people we're dealing with online these days. That said, if you are purchasing something from someone online, using PayPal would probably give you the best protection, but trading is a whole different story, of course. |

i like it but will need something to stop people creating numerous accounts and spaming against someone they dont like or themselves?
some sort of minimum time spent on site or points or something to stop this. also if for some reason i dont like *insert name here*....every post they do i will just negative them.....that would rather unfair for *insert name here* would it not cause they could be a overall good contributor/seller? how to protect from this kind of abuse? |

Pasting my post from what seems like the other thread about this exact same subject that you also created today. Necessary?

Nice cat avatar. Reminds me of a song I once heard. Something about "like corn on the cob..."? |
