Snowboard luggage: do you remove your bindings-

I recently bought a snowboard bag (columbia titanium double black roller 181) to be exact.  It's pretty sweet, it's padded and has wheels.  My only gripe is that my bindings don't really fit in the bag without me taking the highback/heelback off.  Do the other bags have this same problem?  I read the reviews and it didn't seem like anyone else really mentioned it for some of the other burton and dakine bags.  you're thoughts are greatly appreciated. 

We purposely bought a LARGE bag (easily fits two boards with bindings) when we bought our snowboard bag because we had/have flow bindings.  Is there any way you can fold down the high backs of your bindings to make it fit? 

I have a burton space sack (the padded one) and I can zip it up with a 160w and large bindings.  It's tight but i can do it. 

i own a 166 dakine bag and have never had an issue. just fold the backs down. my bag has 2 huge pockets and i put my boots on one end, helmet in the midlle, and pants on the other and it zips fine. i reccomend dakine! plus the pockets i still have room for gogglees, gloves, etc haha.

We have the Burton Wheelies and we can fit the board in the bag with the bindings attached.

leave ur bindings on and put ur boots inbetween ur bindings ...still bring a tool tho duhh

I have a burton wheelie gig. I always have my binding on. I usually fit the boot at the nose or tail.

I have a regular burton bag and i am able to fit my bindings in easily and my boots and other stuff.

make sure your bindings are folded as compact as possible. i have burton mission bindings and they are pretty long when folded compact but they still fit, i have XL's. I have a dakine bag and it fit my gf board and mine when i took my bindings off with two sets of boots and various clothe i crammed it. if ur having problems with 1 board something is wrong.

i have the burton board chamber.  it can fit my board with bindings attached easy.  i usually take off the bindings if i put more than 1 setup in there.

I'm probably just paranoid, but I take my bindings off.  I worry that with the way they throw the luggage around during loading and off-loading, the bindings, if attached, could break or somehow damage the board (where they screw into the board).  I also wrap the board(s) with T-shirts to keep them from getting scuffed up by the boots and bindings.  I have boots and outwear throughout the bag to pad the board and bindings.  Just a word of advice, do not put anything in the outer pocket(s) unless you can lock it...some jackass in Reno went into my outside pocket (a baggage handler most likely) and stole my multi-tool, a pair of binding discs, and snowboard lock.  The main compartment was locked with a TSA approved lock, but the outside pocket couldn't lock.  I am still trying to get reimbursed by the airlines.

I have one board with bindings attached and highback folded down. For my other boards (if I need to fit it in the same bag), I remove the bindings mainly because that's more space efficient.

my boyfriend has the Dakine Fall Line Double 170cm ski bag for his board and he does have issues with the highback sticking out. he doesnt take the bindings out though. he just loosens it and adjusts the bindings so that the bag can close.

are you using FLOW bindings? Rear-entry bindings...

Baggage insurance from Travel Shield.  Covered from the time you walk out of your house to the time you return.  I recently got it for a trip.  Peace of mind in the event my luggage runs into a sticky-fingered baggage handler or break during transport.

Back to the binding question: put it in your suitcase.  My preference.  The bindings reinforce the suitcase, keeping the middle from caving in from heavy items being placed on it.

I have a Dakine bag with wheels. I take my bindings off and attach them to my boots since it gives me more room to fit my clothes ect. I can usually fit a weekends worth of clothes and all my boarding gear in the bag comfortably.

Most bags should fit the board with the bindings on.  Did you try folding the highbacks down all the way?  I'd imagine that folding down the highbacks would make the bindings about the same size as if you removed the highbacks....

I have burton mission bindings XL, and i've tried folding them all the way down to the bottom.  it's still having problems.  the highbacks stick out about 2 inches from the bag.  I like the bag a lot but it looks like the burton space bag may be the way to go for the next bag.  that being said, do you think it's okay to take off and put on bindings? like i don't know if they put locktite on the tread or anything. 

I have a Burton Wheelie Bag which fits tons of stuff.  I flew home with my board and bindings in tact.  The bag also included snowboard boots, all my winter clothes, and my buddies skis.  Pretty sweet!  All you have to do is stay under 50 lbs for most airlines.  As always, boards fly free at Southwest!

I have the Dakine High Roller and I can fit 3 decks without bindings and 2 boards with bindings all in it at the same time.  It's heavy as hell, but it will all fit.  I'd say take the bindings off for the same reason somebody else already stated.  With the way your luggage is treated, i'd be afraid they'd break the bindings.  It only takes a few minutes to take them off.  Just remember your stance width on the board, and your angles the bindings were at and you should be good to go once you remove them.

I keep my bindings on until the off season. if your bag can fit it, might as well. like a lot of the other people, i fit ALL my stuff in my bag

i just got a 157 dakine tour bag for a 157 board and all of my gear went in without any problem.

i have a huge dakine bag and i have to take the bindings off of one of the boards but i leave them on without problem on the other board

nah dude, you just got a terrible bag..sure the wheels and padding might be sweet, but is it really worth it to take the bindings off every time youre going to use it?
