How is this place compared to Alpine? I heard mixed reviews so not sure if I should eventually check this place out.

Devils head is much better in terms of everything: terrain park, groomers, steeps and length of runs however all the lifts are old and super slow where as alpine has 3 high speed lifts. And devils us about an hour farther if you are coming from illinois.

Has anyone been up to Devil's Head recently. I haven't been there all year, and I haven't heard anyone talking about it. Is it fully open?

The hill isn't bad but if you plan to spend the night, don't expect anything more than a dorm. They still have "tube" tv's in the rooms.

I went to Devil's head today it was a lot of fun, because no one was there. My wife and I had the park to ourselves.  By 1 it was all slush but it was a great morning.

The hotel at Devil's head is not that nice, but I know they have built a few condos in the past few years. Does anyone know if they rent these condos out and how much they cost? Most of the time I just stay at a hotel 15-20 minutes away.

went to devils head today and it was raining the whole day. for how awful it was, it was actually pretty fun. i gotta give it up to those guys for working there butts off to have 6 runs open because the weather has never been worse. however, i would save my money at least for another week if you were thinking about going.

Devils head was empty today could have been the cold weather or the badgers playing but it lead to some good riding. The runs were well groomed and they had two small parks set up.  They are still a long ways from what they had last year but a lot of fun for early season riding

Just wondering if anyone has been to Devil's Head lately? I am considering going tomorrow and wanted to see if anyone had info on how the conditions are?  Based on the rain/ice then snow we got here in northern Illinois, I am worried the hill we be completely iced over.

I ended up going this past Saturday the 9th and the conditions were great.  There was a good amount of snow and very little to no ice at all.  I think i can only count a few ice patches from all the runs i went on.

So overall it was great, except for one thing.  The so-called "high speed quad" lifts are the slowest lifts i have ever been on.  The older two person which were built in the early 70s were significantly quicker.

Yeah I can't figure out why they put the money into those two new lifts. The lifts are nice but they are not high speed.  The only thing I can think of is they had some lifts break down so they might have had to replace more than they planned, therefore two slower lifts instead one good high speed.

Oh they had a lift break alright! Back in 2009 they had a lift that broke and began to run backwards.

Devil's Head is having a season pass sale until September 8. You get the pass for 299 after taxes.  That is a pretty good deal when Cascade is asking 468 for their season pass.

I've done the new years thing at devils head a few years ago and i would recommend staying in the dells or if you got a big group i.e. 10+ renting a big house around the area. they get kind of crazy if you get crazy at devil's head.

Devils head doesn't have great accommodations you are better off staying in the dells like milutinho said.
