It's been 10 years since the sequel.  I just wanted to see if anyone else picked this game up today.  It's pretty epic, even for those who aren't comic book or street fighter fans.

my roommate just picked it up.  i demoed it at best buy on xbox360 last sunday.  it's definitely different.  i couldn't even figure out how to switch characters.  from playing the demo, these are the big differences that i noticed:  there are 3 attack buttons (light, medium, hard) and a launcher button that hits the opponent in the air.  depending on what direction or motion you use with the attack button, it'll be either a punch of kick.  it's definitely gonna take some time to get the hang of the game and its new features.

yea, it's a little different.  you have to hold the assist button to switch to that person. it's weird, but i kinda got used to it.  they give you a little more freedom to combo (didn't know it was possible after playing marvel vs capcom 2) but it's definitely dope.  Wesker is cheap as ish in this game, im definitely pickin that guy lol.

as for system, i would go for PS3 for the better controller.

"MAGNETO, WELCOME TO DIE"
some of the banter between the characters are hilarious.

on another note, the thing i hate most is that you have to PAY to play DLC characters, which kinda makes the playing field pretty uneven.

gonna wait for it to get crazy cheaper. not a fan of this DLC stuff...

So I picked this game up @ Best Buy last night -- just the standard edition since I don't really read comics or care about a steelbook case.

First impressions: graphics are amazing...love the 3D semi-cell shading and the animations are pretty fluid.  The mini cutscenes when you're about to do a hyper combo are beautiful.  The control scheme is definitely taking a little getting used to, as I'm used to X usually being LK instead of the launch attack.  That said, the controls are much tighter than MvC2 where it seemed timing was a little bit more open to interpretation and of course you could pull off 120 hit combos.  The offline "Mission" mode is a great way for noobs and vets alike to learn the fundamentals of comboing and really opens up the possibilities (crossovers, assists, combo cancels, etc.).  Characters feel much more balanced than MvC2 and the CPU is actually progressive in difficulty (Very Easy, Easy, Med, Hard, Very Hard) as opposed to MvC2 where Easy was a cakewalk and Medium was a significant increase in difficulty.

I haven't gone online at all because I'll get my ass kicked -- definitely gonna keep trying more of the missions.  I'd say this game is a solid 9 in my book right now, possibly one of the better fighting games I've ever played.  But I love chaotic and flashy graphics so YMMV.

PS Deadpool's lines are pretty hilarious.  Amaterasu is a dog kicking everybody's butt.

you can hit them, you just have to get them before they taunt. also, if you attack an assist char, it does 1.5 times the damage, so it makes you think before calling them out so people can just throw out assists left and right.
