any shoe you skate in is going to wear out.  and if you're looking at vans to last a long time, you're in the wrong place.  vans are hands down my favorite shoes but they just dont tend to hold up to skating as well as some of the other beefier skate shoes, but that's fine.  they're on the cheaper tip and if it's the kind of shoe you want to skate, that's all that matters.  the more normal models like the TNT series/etc are gonna be more like an average shoe, whereas a classic model is going to tend to wear out quicker because they're thinner/etc.  depends on the shoe though.  chukka lows, authentics, and slipons are my favorite.  half cabs are rad too.

just accept the reality that all shoes will wear out.  you COULD get something with a rubber toe cap or something but they just don't skate the way a good suede shoe does.

i've had shoes like the emerica leo where i wore them out in three days, but they skated so good that i didn't care.  i have too many shoes anyway and it doesn't help that i have an easy time getting them.  these days i dont skate much anymore at all, almost never, i just ride cruiser boards.  i do still ollie and whatnot but its more like popping up curbs while cruising somewhere, or over a sewer hole, or grinding a painted curb along the way.  doesn't wear them out as much.

The main question is are you going to skate in them. If you want styleish it will cost you. But if your made of money you can go stylish and get a good solid skate shoe. I can go through a pair of shoes in about a month if im skating alot. But if you arnt skating them hard, Globe, Emerica, Fallen, Lakia, Circa make good skate shoes. They also make some pretty cool looking ones too. Dont buy DC, or etines inless you want some homosexual shoes. That is just my personal preferacne. I hate DC just because they dont last long and they dont look that cool. I Had a pair of chukka lows Awsome shoe except that within 2 hours of skateing them the heel had come out of them. It really made me mad. They are sick looking shoes but very underable.I hope i was a help.

so far, my favorite shoe that ive skated was the Prod 4's. they felt great, but i wouldnt consider them to be a long lasting shoe. Personally, i wouldnt skate in es's if you wanted long lasting shoes. The longest lasting shoe that ive skatedd would either be sb dunks, or emerica jerry hsu shoes.

you do know that eS and emerica are both sole tech brands, share the same tech, and are made in the same place with the same materials, right?  its basically one company with three brands (etnies too).

i got some nike 6.0s (or at least something that looked like it...it has a strap too!) that have lasted me about a year. the sole and everything is still good but i'm flat footed so i can't run/board/walk for something like 4 hours straight with it.

For a chick, I love my DC's! They are the most comfortable skate shoe I have owned - The two pairs I have will have lasted me for over 4 years now.. and I personally don't think the guys styles are 'girly' or anything!

I destroy shoes faster then most people. The shoes that lasted me the longest were addidas campus vulcs and etnies taylors. Nike SB blazers and janoskis last pretty long also.

Also at armannixon Adio shoes are a disgrace to skateboarding they use the cheapest materials and they also recently kicked off all their team riders as they don't want to support the industry.

"Adio team rider and Powell Peralta pro Jordan Hoffart speculated reasons behind the shoe brand's demise. "Basically there were factory defects on top of shipping delays on the first season of shoes which caused a lot of our accounts to cancel their orders," Hoffart noted. "It cost the 'boss heads' a grip of money and sent the company into a panic. They didn't really understand the value of skateboarders to begin with, so instead of taking the loss and regrouping, they saw it as an opportunity to cut our whole program. Pretty shortsighted in my eyes, but I'm just a skateboarder -- what do I know?"
