Hill closes for the season in 2 days. No way to know if owner will return to look for them, or if they were just abandoned in the middle of the parking lot because it's end of season, or just accidently left behind.

It's up to you. Most people would make off with them. Honestly, they probably aren't coming back to pick them up. I know if I lose something (even though it is usually only a bandanna or something), I don't go out of my way to look for something.

Turn them in. He'll at least call the mountain to see if they have them. Nobody just leaves their boots behind. Karma'a a bitch, I'd turn them in.

Turn them in...just because you found them doesn't mean it's yours.  If I lost my boots I would at least call the resort to see if anyone turned something in or the parking lot attendant found them.

I would hope you would do the same for if this was a board you found.

I'm all for turning them in, but maybe if you lived further away/are not a total scumbag but still want a chance at keeping the boots I would call the mt and tell them if anybody stops by looking for ____ boots to call your #, may still get to keep the boots with a lot less guilt, (I just wanted to add something new because everybody above is saying return them... karma...)

The boots are Ride Orion, from a couple yrs ago, avail on here for $89. No, I'm not a scumbag, and wouldn't have even thought about keeping them except they are the size that fits my friend who does not own boots. I live 2 hours from the hill, and the place closes for the season on Sunday anyway, but I'm going riding again Saturday.

My buddy's girl left her boots in the parking lot by mistake a few weeks back and she was truly grateful they were turned in.  If you wait you are ensuring the person will not get his boots back.

Yeah just call the resort and tell them that you have the boots, they'll make a note and if anyone comes looking they will know who to call. That way you've done the right thing and if you get to keep them it's a bonus :)

Turn them in. If I left mine behind, I'd hope someone would do the right thing and turn them in. Even if the actual owners don't return, at least you will fell better knowing you did the right thing.

I'm with everyone with turning them in. You may think there is something to gain(boots), but in the future karma will come back to bite you in the butt.

Please turn them in, or at the very least call the staff and let them know you have them and to call you if anyone comes looking.  That way, if the person truly didn't want the boots (highly unlikely as it is), then you'll be able to pass along the good and give them to your friend.

Win / win.  And it's always nice giving the stuff back to the person yourself, right?

He should just turn them in. Any busy resort is not going to keep track of some note that xxx has yyy boots and to call zzz. The boots belong to someone else and the best chance of getting them back to the rightful owner is to bring them to the resort.

I agree with this, but the resort might not keep track of your number, but if the person never comes back and you give them to the resort then after this season they will get turned into rentals.

If you don't want to call and leave your number then just turn them in, don't keep them.

I would turn them in because the one time I left my boots at the mountain and I was freaking out because I called and they didn't have them in the lost and found. But I went back the next day and they were sitting in the same place. So I would return them because someone is probably really upset and is trying to find them.

You could just call the mountain and tell them you found boat fitting a description. If anyone comes looking have them call a number you left. I did that once after I found Money in an apartment parking lot. After 30 days, burned.

they're figgin boots...what the hell are you gonna do with them?  Wear someone else's worn-in shoes?...that's pretty desperate.  Sell them?...just as desperate (used snowboard boots aren't exactly a hot ticket item)

turn them in - hopefully, you haven't kept them so long that the people have already called and been rejected

So you have these in your possession right now? You had the chance to take them to lost and found right then but you didn't. You are trying to justify what you did by saying it's for your friend who need boots. Nope not a scumbag.

why is this even a thread? turn them in its not worth in for your buddy, if he cant afford his own boots he needs to be working not boarding, in the end the mountain is probably just gonna throw them away. think about how much crap they find on a Monday after a packed weekend. Stuff stays in lost and found only for a few weeks unless someone working their wants it. Either way not worth the hassle.

I'm going to have to agree for Sully J's idea. I say give the resort your number and if someone calls, then you'll feel like you did a good deed; if he doesn't you at least have a "new" pair of boots. It's really up to you at the end of the day though.

btw Karma doesn't exist, at least in my experience it doesn't.

He should do what will maximize the return of the boots to the rightful owner and that is to return them to lost and found. That should have been done immediately after finding them. If I lost something, I would appreciate that someone returned the item so that I might get it back. I doubt a busy resort is going to keep track of notes.
