I have the Dakine Edger tool. One side said 90 degree and the other side 88. If I want to use the 90 degree..does that mean the 88 will be facing toward me and sharpening on the 90 degree side?
Please comment if you have this tool. |

I have a similar tool, on mine you can tell by looking at the plastic handle part. I believe that on the side that says 88 degrees, you can tell that the plastic part that rests on the board, is slanted. So I do believe that if you have 90 degrees down then it is sharpening at 90 degrees

yes, i do have this tool. unfortunately it's designed to only sharpen one edge (side edge) of the board. you lay the handle part flat against the base of your board. depending on what side of the tool you lay against the board, u either get 88 or 90.
like what shred said, if you're not sure, u should be able to tell from the bevel angle. another trick is to take a long flat edge (like a ruler, press it against the handle, and see which way it slants) |

If your board is laying flat with the base up and you want to use the 90 then the 88 should be facing you. I looked at mine just to eyeball the angles and it is pretty obvious which one is not a 90 (square corner).

So, the 88 side gives it a slight bevel for rails and such?
Also, should I move the tuner from tip to tail, or just go in the direction that the file points. The file has an arrow on it that points either left or right. |
