I'm fittin' to actually try longboarding again, but the scenery isn't as good and the penalties for falling are much more dire.

Is the feel of a skateboard similar to a snowboard in any way? If it is i might get interested.

I haven't skateboarded in years. My summer board sport is wakeboarding.

I live in Southern CA close to the water so I have surfed as long as I have snowboarded but me and a couple of buddies are gonna pick up skateboarding again-I haven't really done it since I was in Jr. High back in the late 90's when you either skateboarded or you were mud (essentially). That was back when like world industries was the "it" brand.

I actually just found my piece of crap skateboard I guess it can't hurt to give it a whirl again. In answer to the op I guess I'll just ride on the street since I am pretty sure I'll die if I go to the parks not ready for that yet lol

there's a skateboarding thread around here somewhere...

i've been skating since i was 4, so thats 18 years.  this is where it started...

i skated the most from about age 12-17 i think and then it started to slowly die out.  these days all i do is cruiser boards... same concave as a regular board, but a little wider (around 8.5 usually) and they are cut in slightly oldschool shapes.. mostly just pointy-ish noses and more blunted tails.  i love em.  8" indy highs with 1/4" risers and mid-60s longboard wheels.  cruise like a longboard, but you can pop up/over/down things, grind curbs, etc.  so fun.

i'm not in this video till the end but you can see me skating the cruiser.  this was 2 years ago.

and a couple more..

i do a cortez the killer series with my friend ryan cortes, he's from puerto rico and has a very thrasher cement park flowing surfy style when he skates.

and there's this from the summer 2 years ago as well, we got up way early in the morning and filmed till around 11am and made an edit.  ryan and another local killer named timmy.

I need to get back on my longboard, but I hate the fact that I'm mongo. I tried to learn riding normal, but it's so sketchy. Maybe I'll try riding goofy.

I live in south dakota so not much water here i do some wake boarding but not much, i have been skating for about 8 years and it is similar to snowboarding a little but not as much as one would like to think. I wish it would just snow all year around :) @spencer, that is a sweet video nice to see their are some skaters on here.

I second that, I'm definitely looking forward to some longboarding/racing. Falling in the cold just sucks. It sucks in the summer too but it doesn't feel like you broke your body in half like it does during the winter. What kind of longboard do you rock?

I'm looking forward to doing alot more skateboarding than I have in the past.  It will help me keep sane while I wait for the next season to start.  Hopefully I can go all summer without getting hurt.
