    Posted: Mar/22/2011 at 2:00pm
Hey folks,

I had a thread going last year with the network deal that many of you took advantage of. So wanted to pass along the sweet savings to the sierra/trusnow crew. Kirkwood just announced their 2011/2012 Early Bird Season Pass Prices.

You can save $50 on an unlimited kirkwood pass through my network. The network pass is basically a discounted version of Kirkwood's 7wood pass. It's an unlimited pass; ride any day of the year, no blackouts. no holiday restrictions, no weekend restrictions. any day the lifts are spinning, your pass is good!

The network pass is selling for $299 through April 30th, using the following url:

https://skikirkwood.com/e-commerce/grpLogin2.aspx

login = epa

password = kirkwood

I posted more deets on the program here:

http://kirkwoodnetworkpass.blogspot.com/

you also get the following pass benefits:

Network Season Pass Benefits:

1) Purchase up to 2 all day discounted tickets each day: $20 off   Monday-Friday and $10 off weekends and holidays for friends.
2) 20% off Sunday-Friday/Non-Holiday lodging rates
3) 10% off Kirkwood logo wear.
4) Exclusive Passholder Pricing at Shopkirkwood.com

Good looking out for all of us on this site.  I always get the 6 Wood so I'll probably stick with that, but that's a hell of a deal for the 7 Wood.  I don't ever really ride on weekends so it probably wouldn't benefit me, but I'll definitely pass this info along to all the guys I ride with.

I'm pretty sure I used this to get my pass this year (albeit later, so it was more expensive) but I'll likely do this again. Thanks!

sweet... glad to hear folks are using it.

just a quick update, since these seem to be popular questions, I've included a full list of add-on prices to the network pass:

* spring pass (ride the rest of the current season through May 1st) - $99
* x-country (pass to access kirkwood's nordic trails) - $69
* mtn bike park (pass to kirkwood's summer mtn bike park, open july 4-labor day) - $59
* ski green (supports renewable energy) - $10
* skier guard insurance (ie. you get your $ back if you can't use your pass for qualified reasons) - $23

hope that helps. feel free to email me any questions: kirkwoodnetworkpass@gmail.com

Nice to know it's only $59 to add mountain biking to it! I broke my collarbone there back in '06 and actually haven't done any legit mountain biking since, but I've decided to get back into it this summer. Stoked!

one more quick update. So I've also heard a rumor that you can make this deal even sweeter by shopping at costco. You can purchase 3 ($100) gift cards for $80 each and apply those toward you season pass purchase. So if that holds true, you'd end up paying $240 for a season pass! Don't hold me to it, in case costco has sold out or discontinued the program (i haven't been recently), but a bunch of folks have already bought their passes this way so wanted to pass on the savings. Once you have your costco cards, go here to purchase your network pass:

www.kirkwood.com/network

or

https://skikirkwood.com/e-commerce/grpLogin2.aspx

login = epa

password = kirkwood

hope that helps.

Just called Costco in my local area and they are all out.  Too bad I missed out on a good opportunity.  Oh well, I'll do this next year when I buy my pass for the 2012-2013 season.

bummer... i'll keep my eyes peeled for this earlier next year to get the word out. apparently freemont still has some if you're willing to make the trip (depending where you are may or may not be worth it).

Thanks for the heads-up. Really tempting. Kirkwood is my favorite, but a lot of my buddies here like hitting up different resorts. If I could get commitment to hit up Kirkwood for X days, I'd totally jump.

anyone going to kirkwood this weekend for a bit of riding? they're open on the 2nd and 3rd and will be spinning chair 6 from 7:30 to 2pm... thinking about it.

also network passes are now $329 through sometime in september. to purchase:

www.kirkwood.com/network

login = epa

password = kirkwood

you can use next years pass to ride this weekend (but you can't use this years)... so more of a reason to get your pass for next year.

also looks like it snowed last night... nuts.

not too bad about 3.5 hrs on a good weather day from sf. on a pow day, you will need chains or snow tires and 4wd. sometimes they close 88. They usually open the east side first, so you have to go through slt via 89 to get to 88west.

You really need to keep an eye on the caltrans site or the kirkwood facebook page with road conditions.  The 88/89 can be close, and they can remain closed for quite some time.

Not worth it!

There are a lot of better places to get passes. IMO Kirk is only good on powder days!

I think tahoe has something for everyone. If you're not into powder, uncrowded slopes and a chill vibe, then kirkwood may not be your thing. certainly if you're exclusively a park rat, there are probably better options for you in the tahoe basin.

have to say though it's hard to beat kirkwood's pricing on their season passes. with 2300 skiable acres and 2000' in vertical, it's hard to find a comparable sized place for the price.

btw pass prices go up after 9/7. they're still $329 for an unlimited season pass... more info here: http://kirkwoodnetworkpass.blogspot.com/

The kirkwood park is definitely not up to par with most of others in Tahoe.  Luckily, I suck at park and have no desire to spend my days lapping there.

ditto on that. though sometimes i like to hit the *baby* park off chair 7 on my way down from sentinel or the palisades... and their border cross course can be kind of fun the way down from chair 6.
