hi pplr. i just bought this from backcountry and they are really comfy but i know that these Burton pinnacle xcr has stated on it that there is a built in gore-tex liner aka gore-tex insert. it is not fully taped seams on the gore-tex. i spent a hundred on these gloves and usually i dont spend to much for gloves but they keep getting soaked every season so i thought i would step it up to the pinnacle this year. the highest model Burton one is gore-tex with fully taped seams but they look really ugly and cost a lot more so that's why i bought the pinnacle instead. so how waterproof is it since it does have the gore-tex guaranteed to keep you dry. if you are snowboarding in the pouring rain, will it eventually soak through or do you need like pressurized water to actually pass through the outer stormlite and then the gore-tex to get your hands wet? anyone have these gore-tex gloves that have used them in terrible down pour conditions plz let me know your results. thnx!
link for the gloves: http://www.backcountry.com/store/BUR0888/Burton-Pinnacle-XCR-Under-Glove-Mens.html?id=SmVoU3mq btw, incase you guys are wondering why the heck would i snowboard in the rain, its not that i want to but i go to the local mountains in vancouver bc like cypress and grouse quite a bit and sometimes it just pours. i dont want to let the weather to decide if i should stay indoors or not which is the case every year. i want to be the one who laughs when it starts to rain hard and be like "bite me". hehe by the way, those 35 dollar gloves my mom got me today from costco has HIPORA liner in it. i did a test and soaked them for ten minutes in the sink to see what would happen since a lot of products out there claim there stuff to be waterproof like gore-tex but if you really try to soak them, the water will go through. they actually held up! im quite impressed for 35 dollar gloves! so if you guys want to get gloves that are cheap and waterproof, get the gloves from costco, it's by "HEAD". btw, what is the difference between Hipora membrane and gore-tex, if anyone knows? thnx pplr! p.s., i bought the Salomon f24 2004-2005 model for a great deal and i don't know how waterproof these snowboarding boots are. i really want to make sure this year that i dont get soaked and have spent a fortune to get bonfire gore-tex pants and the gore-tex mission jacket. however, my old Burton boots used to get wet after a while of riding, they were some low-end boots. on the Salomon f24 there is like a membrane that join the tongue to the shell of the boot if you can picture it but in terms of waterproofness, how good do you guys think these boots are if any of you have used these boots in the past. these boots are supposed to be the high end ones of 2004-2005 with a one way vent on the side of the boots. yes i know im a waterproof freak but i want to be comfy as hell this year! boots: http://www.sierratradingpost.com/Product.aspx?baseno=66751 let it snow let it snow let it snow sorry for the long post pplr! |
