I will be working in hospitality - Doing a bit of waitressing/cooking/bar work if need be! Which means it will be pretty sweet with working split shifts and all! Means I'll be able to board pretty much every day.. Either early in the morning or in my split! I've had a missed call from another place at Buller this arvo too.. Nice change of tide from last year where I had two interviews and was offered zilch!

Not that I know of Wilz... Did you want something for just one weekend or every weekend? Because they get busy as during the weekends so hospitality places might need extra staff for weekends in particular?

good stuff. which places have u been offered so far? have u accpeted?

well my thought is that i would want to work every weekend, but only 1 day a week? since i would like to snowboard the other day of weekend?

So my ideal senario, work 1 day to pay off snowboarding 1 day, acc, travel fuel, parking, entry, meals.. some spare cash.. like i said.. IDEAL i don't know how likely it is to find something like that.

the kind where you accidently pour the whole bottle of anniversary edition blue label with no1 to drink it so you "had" to give it away at red label prices LOL

That'll never happen with my friends.  They're not rich enough for Anniversary Edition Blues but once a bottle of King George Blue is open, vultures--I mean, friends, can smell it suburbs away and swarm in on the poor guy's house.

Most places are so overpriced for red I couldn't imagine what they would charge for blue.

You get them duty free.  There's always someone(s) each year travelling overseas so expensive alcohol gets stocked up... that is if the traveller is not a drinker otherwise then he buys a bottle for himself, the selfish bastard Angry

Did anyone see that the mountains surrounding QT got snow early last week, with approx 15cm settling (I think it was)?

OK, I wasn't surprised to hear your QT update but your Falls Creek update had me skeptical.  I checked the video and I went, "No way?!!!".  Snow that's plentiful and good enough to eat off your car?!

I think I'm the first one to thumbs up on the video.

It's pretty cool! I only found out about it because I had added Falls to FB last year to get updates on how the snow was at the end of last season - But Hotham has pics up as well!

From the look of the cams, Falls and Hotham both got more snow overnight, not much.. But enough to make a few runs white! Today's meant to be the day for a proper snowfall though..!

Doubt they'd open early, for the same reason they don't push back the season end dates even if the snow is good - From what I've gathered, a lot of the staff employed with the ski lift companies do back-to-back seasons... Winter here and summer over in the US/Canada... So they are basically locked in to a start date in their contracts and don't arrive any earlier. Would be awesome if they could though...

Checked out the cam's yesterday on the Mt Buller iPhone app and wow snow it looks unreal i think we are gearing up for a ripper season.

Has anyone seen any details about the opening dates of the Snowflex dry slope facilities in Melbourne?

Not for sometime.
They expect work to start commencing in September.
But they need ppl to register for membership for it to happen, because that's how they will get funding. Even if you pull out, when it's ready to be paid as long as people register it's how it'll get built.
So com'on this is a hit up to EVERYONE who reads this post, get on

Get in there and register.
Once it's built, pull up that confirmation email and pull out.

I mean, hell, at $275 for unlimited entry all year, it's a BARGAIN!

No, and with an attitude like that, it won't even get off the ground.

Just to make myself clear and not be jerk. (Or possibly I misread your post.)

To get the first park (Narre Warren North) to start construction in Sept, they need as many people to register for membership as possible.
REGISTER, as in put in interest. This is so they can get funding by showing the potential amount of people who will join.
You don't have to put money down, it's not a contract, and as I said before you can just pull out when it's finally done.

And to this you say "I'll do it when it's up and running?"

(O_o)

Nice way to support something that can actually make a difference. I'm hoping that others don't think like you as it means that it won't even get anywhere close to construction.

.... that being said, correct me if I'm wrong in understanding your post.

I think they do want to put one in Perth since they have this picture on their site:

Planned Locations

I think they're using Melbourne as a test to see if there's a demand and that it's feasible.

Be interesting to see how it works, can't think of where in the Metro area they will have the space at current that isn't too far out of the way... Demand would be pretty high and would depend on cost to use...

I think that's why they're looking at putting them out in Dandenong and Melton to start with, for the space issue.. Because Melton's such a new area.. and I guess Dandenong because the train line from Gippsland goes straight through there to get to the city.. So it would work out easier for people from Warragul etc to just jump on the train and get off at Dandenong then pack the car and go to Buller or Baw Baw..!

On a side note, get to check out my room and everything for the season over the Easter LWE..! Going to help them out on the Saturday night!
