Yea, thats insane......all that money just to get dibs......
If Rangers get Darvish though, it would help their team a lot.

You know sumthing funny? I think 3 years ago, Darvish said sumthing about how he would never come to the MLB cause he wants to play in Japan and for Japan only.....talking about how he doesnt want to be a "sell-out"
I guess money changes everything....

For what's going to end up being $100MM+ guaranteed? Yea that changes things...

He doesn't get all the money.  The $51.7 MM is a posting fee that goes to his Japanese team if he signs with the Rangers.

The total Dice K deal with the Red Sox was $103 MM + but his contract was 6 years and $52 MM.  Obviously still good, but they don't get the posting fees.

Braun definitely hurt himself with this one... 4 years in and having an incredible season you'd only hope it wouldn't be like that... I hate watching good ball players hoping they're clean. Fans shouldn't have to watch that way.

What's going to help him is that he went to an AL team so when he begins to fade out he'll be a DH and he can last longer, but that's a lot of damn money to be spending on one person.

Im curious to where Miami is getting all the money from?  Marlins probably have one of the lowest attendance records in the MLB.

I wouldn't say the Phillies are stacked. Their pitching is solid, but their offense just isn't there.

Angels fans better pray Pujols stays healthy otherwise that's a lot of money that could've been spent elsewhere.

lol, given that my Oakland A's don't care to make any effort until they get their San Jose ballpark approved, the Angels only needed to overcome the Rangers and I think they will have a good shot at that.  Look out in 3 years when my San Jose A's come at you tho!

Here's an opinion question though...

Does a pitcher deserve to be season MVP?

Does Trivia really work online when you can look up the answers?  I like it though and will guess the Giants from early 60's, but I really have no idea.

L.A. Dodgers

Hollandsworth
Nomo Mr. Roboto
Mondesi
PizzaPiazza
Karros

Dodgers also had 4 consecutive ROY from the late 70's into the early 80's:

Sax

3 for 3 as far as the answer goes.  0 for 3 on spelling.

Watching baseball feels like being locked in a coma... the dull austerity of the game makes it less and less of America's game every year. Now lets watch the Pen's and Sid the Kid's comeback.

Bobby V in talks with the Red Sox... think he can get the Sox over the hump? The AL East has gotten really competitive over the last 3-4 seasons.

^ $50 million for 4 years?  Sheee-it, I'm going to have my 8 year old work on his curve ball, slider and change up when I get home today.

Philly has some deep pockets, that's a lot of dough for a closer.  Does that mean Madson moves into the setup role or leaves Philly?

Papelbon got some good cash to head to Philly.  Obviously he's good, but I guess I just don't understand handing that much cash to a closer.  Cliff Lee and Roy Halladay throw complete games anyway.

Who in the division has the money at this point though? The Blue Jays might have made a run at him, but couldn't beat the Yankees and the Sox would've just made a few bids to drive the price up for the Yankees.
