That's because that's REAL house music. Real house music is based on disco. (In fact some of that stuff would be considered 'nu-disco').  How on earth do they remind you of jungle?

@myke also why isnt that skrillex track dubstep? I understand before 1:35 but after the bass drops sounds like dub to me. can you really tell the difference of a couple of beats per measure or if its two step or whatever that means?

I would say the skrillex stuff isn't dubstep because dubstep's roots are speed garage and 2-step. It's kind of like the difference between House and Techno. House is based in disco. Thick basslines, more melodic, more soulful - like disco. Techno is percussive and rhythm based. Melodies are really only there to accent the rhythm - with a very cold impersonal feel.  

Skrillex's sound is based more on electro and dare i say it trance, or even happycore - than speed-garage or 2step. It share remnants of the same style beat, but that's it. Nothing else about it is similar. There's a bass drop. Big deal - so does virtually every genre out there. That's one of the oldest tricks in DJ'ing. Work the low-filter and tweak the sound to create kind of a reverse buildup, then drop the filters to kick the bass back in and cut the fader to bring the next track up. Creates the same effect, and people have been doing it for decades. It's not unique to dubstep. Dirty basslines? Please - go listen to some of the old Dropbass network tracks by paul birkin from the early-mid-90s, or any of Niel Landstrum's stuff off tresor berlin from the same timeperiod. Even some of Advent's stuff - and surely a lot of Cari Lekebusch tracks. Any of them make skrillex look like a little girl.

A lot of the house tracks you're posting are just generic commercial/club tracks. Not what I would call house really.

All house music is based in disco (and yes, i mean the 70s kind). I'm not gonna give a whole history lesson on electronic music - but it all started with disco, and evolved from there. A lot of 70s disco is crap - i'll admit that easily - but it is the catalyst for electronic music today.

Well everyone knows skrillex and deadmau5 and basshead but besides them i like alot of underground bands. You can find a lot of daft punk remixes that sound pretty sweet. Also try looking up Distance. hes kinda mellow but its got some sweet bass. His song night vision is pretty cool.

Damn I was going to post the Ghosts N Stuff track from The Art of Flight. It was a badass choice for the beginning of the movie imo. The rest of the soundtrack was not really the type of music I would listen to on its own, but I felt the soundtrack overall did a great job in setting the mood of a lot of the scenes.... I probably should have posted this in the movie review thread...
I'm just sayin'....
