Topic: Who's Ready For Some FOOTBALL 2011/2012 Season! Posted: Apr/04/2011 at 12:07pm |
Draft is here in a few weeks, and although there is no free agency, and maybe even no season next year (Doubt it) we still have the draft to look forward too.
Who are all you rooting for your team to pick up?
I am hoping we can swing a trade and move back a few spots in the first and maybe get an extra 2nd or 3rd rounder out of the deal. Even with moving back a few spots we could still pick up Dareus, Peterson, or maybe even Miller. I'm really hoping we can pick up Paea in the second round but his stock is shooting up and I doubt he lasts that long.

i have no particular preferences for my steelers to draft, just either a top OL or top DB
all i really want to see is my hokies get drafted -Ryan Williams -Tyrod Taylor -Darren Evans -Rashad Carmichael -John Graves
most importantly the top 2 players on that list

bills are going to draft 8 runningbacks like always.
hopefully though, they actually get something they need. someone for the defensive line would be nice. dareus would be legit.

I'm rooting for whoever I draft in my FFL and whoever I have money on that weekend. In a perfect world, the Raiders would still suck, the 49ers do well and the Sharks win the Stanley Cup.

+1 on rooting for players on my FFL team and for some Sharks hope. But the 49er arrogance/Raider hate... I don't dislike the 49ers, but I do dislike most 49er fans, thus I root against them. As much as I love the NFL, I can't bring myself to think much about it with all of the "off field" stuff going on. I'm not excited about the draft at all. It's kind of meaningless since the draftee can't report or even talk to their coaches. I feel they should've postponed the draft until after a labor resolution

+1 to the Sharks going all the way. Especially with the Giants doing it this year-that would just be incredible. 2 first-time Norcal championships in one year would be a pretty big coincidence.

I'm ready for Tebow to kick some ass and show the world he can play big boy ball. I'm also interested to see how Harbaugh turns around the niners.

Here's hoping my Bucs wind up with Ryan Kerrigan in the 1st, Mason Foster in the 2nd, Greg Romeus in the third, Ahmad Black in the 4th

lot of decent qb's in the draft this year. it's gonna be interesting to see which teams they're gonna be on. i heard on espn that the average qb's drafted in the first two rounds is around 3 but this year they're expecting around 7.

-1 for the Sharks...
The Cowboys need a running back. The 3 RB tandem that was supposed to be so good has turned out to be a bust.

I am more of a college guy (go gamecocks!), but I will pull for the panthers just because they are close by. Well atleast I started to pull for them before the owner decided to write this previous year off, dump all his veteran players that actually cost some money, and play a bunch of scrubs while raking in the excess profits for himself. He is the head of the owners board in the CBA negotiations, so I think he was trying to show how poor his team was by not paying anyone... or something along those lines.
Either way, I have decided that my future interest in the panthers will be decided solely on whether they draft Cam Newton. I hate that A** and will become an anti-panther if they draft him.
...
So it is college football season yet?

I love the Bronco's but I'm not sold on Tebow yet. He think he's a decent quarterback but I think Orton should still be the starter this year. I'm going to be pissed if Elways pulls the trigger on another quarterback that we don't need. We need DEFENSE.

I don't think the broncos will draft another QB. Atleast, not on the first day of the draft. I think you will be stuck with the Orton Tebow one more year, then they will try to reel in Andrew Luck from stanford again.

The only team that will get Luck next year is the #1 draft pick and I don't think I want the Broncos to have that honor next season.

Hope Patrick Peterson falls to the Niners at 7 cuz no way Marcell Dareus is going to be around when they pick. All the QB's this year seem like a projects to me and not top 10 worthy.

Unless the NFL gets its act together all that we have to look forward to is college football which in my opinion is better anyways because everyone in college is selling out everygame, you dont see that in the NFL so much anymore... Roll Tide Roll

Thanks POW, wow I had no idea, that just made my day!
As for football, I see everyone saying the Broncos take Dareus, if we don't move down I would be happy with this pick. We desperately need to rebuild that front 7.

im excited as hell for the draft too except the stupid owners/players are killing the hype. As for the Vikes, definatly need to pick up a solid secondary position on defense. i doubt peterson will last, i say we move up

Anyone else think Pathers are NOT going to take Cam with the #1 pick? I don't really get why he is getting so much press as the #1 pick when he is basically just a bigger Tebow without the work ethic? Just shocks me that he has pretty much all the traits that Tebow had which were negatives for Tebow but no one is focusing on them for Cam.

the hype machine drove through that wall long ago. I think we'll be comparing him to JaMarcus Russel before too long... I'd put the over under at 4.5 years before Newton is out of the NFL. Anyone want action?

How do you figure Newton has a bad work ethic? Anybody here ever seen him practice or work out? In all my years of watching college football i've never seen a player face such scrutiny and continue to excell. Where is the downside to that. To the people who think Patrick Peterson is such a great talent, I seem to remember him getting drug into the endzone like Brian Bosworth by a sorry little QB with a bad work ethic. But I guess that dosen't matter. I'm no expert but I don't understand the hype about Blaine Gabbert. What's the big upside to him? He played in a soft big twelve and he looks like he struggles to throw the ball more than twenty yards.

It's pretty much the only negative I have read from all the people that think he is the next coming of Jesus. Of course, we all know how reliable all those writers are so he could be a film rat for all we know.
I don't see any QB from this draft classes doing anything spectacular, it's definitely a defense heavy class.

Its just not an "elite" QB year. They are all projects. Heck, the panthers will have to teach Cam how to take a 3-5 step drop before they even try to teach him the playbook.
It will be a wasted pick at #1.

I agree, not the best QB class this year. Some of them do have the potential though but I think majority would be at best playing back up in their careers.

I've seen Newton work out and practice in person. The guy works as hard as anybody i've seen. I don't think Cam is the second coming of anything. I can vouch for the guys personality he used to read to kids on Thursdays at Cary woods elementary school before anybody outside of Auburn ever heard of him. He has a ton of talent. Most of the negatives people bring up about him are downright untrue. As far as his talent translating into NFL success is all speculation at this point. There was a time when people thought Rick Mier was the second coming of Jesus and Tom Brady was the sixth QB taken in the sixth round of the draft. There were also experts who thought Todd Marinovich and Ryan Leaf were can't miss winners. So who the hell knows for sure. Last thing. It would be nice to see Al Davis pass the torch.

Yep, it's all a crap shoot. The nice thing is our careers wont be directly affected by terrible personel decisions *cough* McDaniels *cough*
