If it makes you feel any better, their title hopes were pretty far-fetched even with a healthy Suggs.  They're too old.

Forget the SB....they might not even make the playoffs....
With the Bengals starting to rise....Suggs being out is a huge hit to the Ravens....

Sum ppl might say its only defense and only 1 guy in the defense thats out, but look at the Steelers 2 years ago.....farking lost almost everygame that Polamalu didn't play....

I think they'll make the playoffs. Yes they're on the old side and Flacco has played inconsistent. But dont forget, they did draft upshaw in the 2nd round. I'm not saying he's suggs, but Baltimore has a decent backup for him.

Polamalu was a different case, he keyed most of what the did on defense, and he's one of the most irreplaceable players in the league. Not saying that Suggs is easy to replace but I could still see the Ravens make the playoffs if Flacco gets a little better.

Wait till the start of the season gets closer. I'll have a lot of solid fantasy football info by then. What type of league will you be in though?

Doesn't help that they traded away their best WR to the Bears.

You think Peyton Manning will be another post-Elway disappointment in Denver?  I guess Tebow was fun and Cutler was decent, but they've have problems too.

That's a good question. We all saw what happened to Indy when Peyton no longer played.... So there's no question of his talent affecting teams. But that entire squad was built around him, and I wouldn't expect a perfectly seamless transition to a new team. But it should make the Broncos a lot more interesting to watch this season (for a full game, rather than some 2 minute drill).

Well, Manning has to win at least 2 playoff games. Otherwise he'll have done no better than tebow last year.

Mild "uh-oh" for the Jags, with Blackmon already missing the final practice with general foot soreness.  Of course they are being smart and I am sure this is precautionary, but never a good sign.

That's pretty hilarious. Haha. If I had him on my team, I'm naming it, I Have A LONG DING Be Jealous.

he was good enough for the 49ers to pursue him and DROP alex smith, despite the fact that he managed the game well enough to get us into the playoffs, and assemble an all-star cast to get into next season so......he shouldn't be that bad...lol

^There is no question that Peyton Manning is going to do fine in Denver.  He could still be a disappointment simply because expectations will be so high, but he doesn't have it in him to be a dud.  Even if his arm strength has diminished, he is basically an offensive coordinator behind center.

No question?  I think someone coming off of four neck surgeries has at least a few question marks.

I'd say he has a few question marks but I think Denver is much better off at quarterback with a questionable Peyton Manning rather than a healthy Tim Tebow anyday.

Yah pretty much. Both those teams have absolutely no time (or available roster) to train the guys on NFL nuances, and the Skins gave up a ton in the draft to get the guy. Best to get him acclimated asap.

Shannahan has said he'll be willing to work with RG3 and be more flexible, the exact opposite of what he usually is according to ex-QBs. That shows how much everybody is relying on him to succeed. I think he's actually under more pressure than Luck, just because they spent all those picks on him and if he tanks they're not restocking from the draft anytime soon.

This. Did you expect anything else?

On another note, the Saints just find themselves deeper and deeper in their hole.

The NFL truly is a year round sport.  With the whole Peyton sweepstakes, the bounty, the Seau death, the Tebow trade, the draft, etc etc. It is round the clock coverage with all sorts of sordid activity.  Not sure if this is a good thing or not, but there really is no offseason.

anyone see the Dr. Phil show today with Terrell Owens??  did not even know he has 4 kids with 4 different women.  kind of sad how far he's fallen.  he barely has any money left and can't even pay child support.

i think we would've been speculating the draft for a LOT longer if it wasn't for the peyton sweepstakes, lol.....or, talkign about where tebow was gonna go anyway.......so much unnecessary attention for that guy, i feel bad for him too...

I have a hard time feeling bad for him.  If he has blown through that much money, he deserves to have some hardship.  And he can't pay child support, but he probably still struts around wearing 5 carat diamond earrings like a trophy wife.

I heard a bunch of pro athletes go bankrupt a few years after leaving the league. Makes sense. I heard a stat where the average pro athlete career lasts about 4 years. So by the time you are 25 you're out the league. If I was a millionaire in my early 20's, id probably be broke too

T.O. burned a ton of bridges and has been trying to find ways to support himself for the past few years, including the Arena League and reality shows.  I think he did the Dr. Phil appearance to drum up interest in his new series.

It's just painfully obvious that all professional sports leagues should have mandatory financial education for the players. They're too young and immature to realize it most of the time so these leagues should be helping them out. You could live most of your life off 4-5 years of making millions, that's more money than most people see in their lifetime.

I don't feel bad for people like TO who made tens of millions and couldn't invest wisely though, they should have hired somebody to manage their money.

I'm not sure if the leagues should be responsible for how the players manage their money. But, the players associates should provide the service as part of the union benefits.

Game, set, match. Couldn't have said it better myself. The unions always "have the players' best interests in mind".. long term financial stability falls right into that.

I think the nfl covers finances during the rookie orientation. Along with social media, etc. but you can't blame a 21 year old millionaire for splurging. people who win thelottery go broke, same with celebrities. Remember MC hammer? Brooooke.

Doesn't matter.  Every player thinks the money will never run out and that it will never happen to them.  Sure, they want to get some nice things (who wouldn't), but you need to be careful not to put all your money into some stupid business deal or buy a house for your high school friend's second cousin.

Many of the players come from poor families that grew up in poor neighborhoods, with poor extended family and friends. Once the player gets some money, everyone comes to him to get a handout. And if he doesn't help out, him and his entire extended family are going to be called out as sellouts. They could be threatened, robbed, beaten, or killed. So, the players keep all these people on the payroll, basically buying protection. That's why many of players can't save any money. It's going out as fast they bring it in. And not always because they spent it on themselves...

I need a football fix. Only thing remotely interesting is the vikings won't be moving to LA. Big whoop. Waiting for some player to get arrested. Damn the commissioner. Coming down hard players. A lot more are playing out safe now.

Sometimes ESPN just irks me.  It's like they release a memo every morning with talking points so that all the shows have to cover the same thing.  Like today it was, "Did Wes Welker kill his leverage by saying he hand 9.5 millions reasons not to hold out?"  They covered it on Mike and Mike, then First Take, and I think they also talked about it on Around the Horn and PTI.  And yes, I was home today, so I watched a lot of ESPN.  Who cares?  Welker wasn't going anywhere and look at that, he signed the franchise tender by the end of the day.
