If you like to watch or play tennis this is the thread for you. What kind of tennis racquet do you have? Who is your favorite player? Do you play and what number are you for your team?

Used to have the Wilson nCode nSix-One Tour 90 but now use the Babolat Pure Drive Roddick GT Plus. The Wilson was an awesome racquet when you hit it just right but so damn hard to find that sweet spot with such a small face. The Babolat is quite a bit more forgiving and a lot of fun to play with, light and snappy.
My all-time favourite player is Pete Sampras, best serve/volley ever! Federer is still my current favourite even though he's a slowing down family man now. I play mainly for fun these days but took it a bit more seriously when I was in school. Bought my own stringer and everything. :p |

Haven't played any comp level for a while. Racket is still my trusty Wilson Hyper Pro Staff Surge 5.1 from 6+ years back.
Favorite player of all time is Sampras. Current day would be Roddick. |

By numbers i'm assuming he means it's like a seeding system so that players of similar skill have matches against each other. That's the way it was in high school for Tennis and Golf teams at east. (1 v 1, 2v2, etc...) |

Had a Pro Staff original 95, but now I am using K90 and KPS88, both pretty awesome racquets. I have always been a wilson guy, tried the Pure Drive, which was very spiny and forgiving compare to my wilsons. However, I still prefer the feel from a wilson racquet.
I only play socially, wanted to get into a comp, but seems pretty expensive. Rather save up for a ski trip :p Favourite players are Sampras and Federer for men and Andrea Petkovic and Kim Clijsters for Women. |

I used to play, forgot what racquet I have. Spent about $200 on it when I was dating my wife, and she has quit playing with me because she can't beat me easily anymore.

Totally agree, I think it's kind of BS guys "in general" have to ease up on certain things to still be able to enjoy them. I can understand losing all the time would be irritating but I would think it would motivate you to get better, not just quit.
Dirty did you even suggest doubles? Maybe she would want to play more if you were on the same team.

A buddy I try to play with helps me a ton! He plays around 5.5-6.0 so it's not really a match at all but it helps me learn new stuff for sure. I've never beat him, not even close.

I play a Prince. My favorite player is Rapha but also love to watch the grace of Federer. I don't know why but I can't stand Novak Djocovic at all. I'm looking forward to the French Open!

I just started playing last summer as my gf's punching bag. Absolutely horrible when it comes to playing but I enjoy watching the game. Fave player is Federer. I use a racquet that I bought from Kmart back in the day for $20! Can't beat durability!

I use babolat storm. I don't want to just say my favorite tennis players, because it's gonna be like a bandwagon, I mean everyone likes the top players. They're so creative with their players, and immaculate in their execution.

Tennis is an awesome sport. Picked it up maybe 3-4 years ago. Im using a Head Youtek Prestige mp. Previously used WIlson Kblade 98 before I switched.
I have multiple favorite players because each one has their own specialty. but I'd have to say that i enjoy watching Gael Monfils the most. The way he covers the court is amazing. |

ya djokovic is outta control right now. this is how he played a few years back when he won his first aussie open but then he started to struggle with wierd breathing problems and then he developed a hitch in his serve. now he's corrected both and he's killing people. i love nadal but who knows now because djokovic is deadly in head to head matches with nadal

I have the Head Ti.S2 Nano Titanium. I've had it for quite some time now. I love the racquet. Little recoil. Getting the sweet spot on it needs a little practice, but its amazing.

If Nadal can't cool down Djokovic on the clay swing for this year then he is going to be on one hell of a run come the French let alone Wimbledon. Great to see the top 3 fight it out though, I think he has hit his stride at the perfect time.

Its nice to see djokovic picking up his game. Tennis as a sport really needs the rivalry. Since Federer is beginning to fade a bit.

Ya Federer is definitely fading. Although, i don't think has anything to do with his age-I honestly think now that he has the record for most Grand Slam titles he can't muster the same motivation. I also think it's one of those things that he probably can't detect within himself but it's obvious when watching him that he just doesn't have the drive to take it to that next level when he's getting pushed around by guys like nadal and djokovic (and del potro when he was healthy)

I got into Tennis after watching the marathon final between Federer and Nadal at the Australian a few years ago. I don't play as much as I'd like, but I really enjoy it when I do play. I currently use a Prince something or other racket.

Hoping for a good lead up from all the top players going into the French and then some nice battles :) Nadal to come out super strong I think and try to stamp his mark as he normally does for the clay swing.

depends on what strings you popped/ what you prefer/ your playing style. What's your usual setup?

What is your racket and normal tension and style of play. Also consider different cross strings if you want to blend spin and control/power.

Root for Martin Del Potro to make a comeback. After winning the us open in 2009 he missed a full season and no one knows if he'll ever be the same. he had so much potential!
