Looks like the US Open final took more out of Djokovic than Nadal. Nadal played some sharp (Davis Cup) tennis in his two matches against France over the weekend, while Djokovic retired from his lone match against Argentina, which clinched elimination for Serbia.

Three years into Fed's era, Nadal comes along. Just when the 'experts' start to wonder if Nadal can catch Federer, Djokovic starts his whatever-this-turns-out-to-be.
I'm interested to see how much longer Federer will continue. There are now 3 players who have a clear competitive edge over him: Djokovic, Nadal, and Murray. There are several others who are not far behind. How long will he stay motivated to put in the work it'll take to stay with those guys? How much longer will he be physically able to put in the work it'll take to stay with those guys?

I don't think Murray has a "clear" competitive edge over Federer. Murray has an 8-6 record against him, and there's no indication that one player was more dominant over the other at 1 stage of their career.

Okay, fine.Big smile You have a point. Fed is actually 4-2 against Murray over their last 6 matches. That puts Murray at 6-2 over Fed for their first 8 matches. I did see Fed beat Murray at the year-end tourney (on TV) last year, but didn't realize he'd had the better of it against Murray over the couple of years. I stand corrected.

Yeah, I keep waiting for him to make a move upward, too. He's, what, 22-23? He was such a monster the last half of '09. He beat Nadal 6-2 6-2 6-2, I believe, before he knocked off Federer at the US Open. Impressive stuff. I hope he's not a 'one-hit wonder'.

i think he'll get back somewhat. the only problem is is that wrist injuries tend to reoccur. i dont think he'll ever live up to what he was going to become

Murray was the man on Sunday against Rafa Nadal. 6-2 & 6-0 in the last 2 sets. How many times has Rafa been bagelled(sp?) in the last 7 years?

rapha has had somewhat of a history in regards to struggling with murray. when murray was on his major upswing like 08-09 and rapha had not yet reached his pinnacle he used to lose to murray alot

I have a love hate opinion towards djokovic...
He is a great player but he's soooo cocky when he wins and soooo whiney when he looses.

I know what you mean. He just needs to train hard for this next year so he can take the olympics and then call it a life.

TENNIS, love to play. I am currently using a beat up raquet with two of the strings cut short and tied off. XD but who cares, as long as you have fun, right? I don't have 'cable', so I don't follow tennis really.

Poor John Isner. Soooo close. Federer and Tsonga could/should be an interesting match. Federer looks to be playing great, but Tsonga's made a couple of BIG comebacks against him.

I really glad he won today playing tsonga! Thought he was gonna get his butt kicked after Tsonga took out Raja. I'm still waiting for Federer's return to the #1 spot.

i hear good things about the new 2012 babolat pure drive. my gf has last year's model, and i love the racket. most of the tennis stores let you demo rackets for cheap or even free.

Babolat have got a heap of players using their racquets down at the Australian Open at the moment. I've checked them out in the sports shops here and they get pretty good ratings. I just wish I could find one on sale!

When you demo a racquet does that mean that you get to take it out of the store for a period of time to try it? If so then how long do you get?

usually only the places that demo are places with theyre own courts, that way you never truly leave the premises.

Im just getting into tennis and I love it. I am currently going through a foot injury so I am not playing but I love the scoring and the level of intensity the sport gets as you improve. When you suck the sport is slow and boring but when you get better and you have to sprint and out smart the other player then the sport is ridiculously fun.

Just getting into it a bit too, moved to an apt complex that has a couple courts I can use. Man I sucked the first couple times, and my backhand is still terrible.
