Will you watch the first round of the NFL draft tonight? Are you going to tivo and watch it later? Or do you just not care about life anymore, much less football?
I personally will watch the first round, maybe the second. Beyond that it gets a little boring. I think the whole thing may lack the dramatic trades of previous years. With most front offices still shut down and not talking trades or free agent deals, they wont have much to bargain with. |

No, I'll watch basketball since it has more of an immediate impact on my team's performance. For the NFL draft, I'll just check it online later.

I'll be watching the beginning as the Broncos have the #2 pick so it shouldn't take too long to see what will happen with my team. I will check the rest of the 1st and later rounds on the internet.

Anyone think Cam Newton is actually gonna go first pick?
That would be a huge gamble.....

^ I hope not. In his head he is going #1. Although it won't happen I would love to see him drop to at least double digits, maybe #15.

You can't deny that Newton is a crazy good athlete, just don't think he'll turn out as a great NFL style QB. Probably end up like Vince Young.

^ Yea, I think he has crazy athletic abilities, but not sure if he has enough experience to
make it in the NFL. Hence, the huge gamble.....
Just checked the Yahoo mock draft and they are saying Panthers might take A.J. Green.

i would love to watch it but being on the west coast, it's too early for me on a thursday, so i'm dvring it and watching when i get home. both aj green and cam newton would be horrible picks for carolina. what a year for them to pick #1...too bad luck stayed in school or he woulda been the unanimous #1 overall

I'm not all that hyped about the draft compared to recent years..but I do hope 49ers get to draft Peterson..or Quinn..then QB on 2nd round..then I am all good with that..Or just draft a qb on later rounds just sign someone to run the ship once the labor issue settles down..

I actually don't think Car goes with Newton and the Broncos will get a bunch of trade calls at that point. Carolina has many many issues and even Luck would have a hard time succeeding in the current state of that franchise.

i don't like newton but he's goin #1. carolina's offense was horrendous last year. i don't think they want clausen to be their franchise qb anymore.

my personal opinion is the panthers need to draft an offensive linemen because they have nothing to build with, if you have an o-line you are definately going to win games, any running back can run through gigantic holes for 5 yards. if they get an offensive line they are guaranteed 8 wins... after that get some defense...

yeah but I really think they should just go veteran qb. They have no track record in developing qb's. |

They don't need O-line. They are actually pretty well stocked there with TWO all-pro tackles. The issues last year was that they had a ton of injuries on the O-line. They may pick up a guard in the 3rd round but that will be it for the O-line.
I think they are thinking excitment factor and ticket sales and they know Cam will draw a lot of media attention. Too bad the smart play would be to shore up the secondary and the return game at the same time with peterson. My second pick would be Dareus, from alabama. But doing either of thsoe would require them to get a veteran QB. Get Kolb, or Hasslebeck, or whoever! As long as Jimmy "Scared Limp Noodle" Clausen doesn't take another snap. |

Newton may turn out to be a great QB but Carolina still has no one to block for him, and no one for him to throw to. The team needs so many other things before they get a QB.

Too late, they picked Newton. It could be interesting if they go to an option style offense, considering they have legit RB options, and Steve Smith as a deep threat to keep the safety honest. |

Detroit is going to has a nasty combination with Fairley and Suh(sp)
Those two DT are going to cause a lot of havok for some O-lines. |

Kind of bummed we passed on Dareus, I really feel he is going to be a special player. Miller is a great 3-4 Linebacker but I just don't know how he will transition to the 4-3. At least a lot of good players have fallen to the second round so we can definitely try and beef up the interior d-line with those 2 2nd rounders.
Also what a HUGE trade by Atlanta. The browns made out like bandits on that one. Good for them, they need a lot of help to get competitive with the Ravens and Steelers.

worst pick imo was the Vikings picking Ponder with the 12th pick, and yea i even think cam newton is gonna be a bust...Ponder wasnt even a first rounder and he got picked 12th! watched him enough in college to say he didnt impress me at all

Yeah Ponder to the Vikings was a stretch. I think they freaked when they saw the run on QBs and wanted to get one before they all vanished.
Ponder must have peed his pants when he realized the nice upgrade to his soon to be paycheck. |

I think Vikes will take a play with McNabb to groom Ponder..I just don't see McNabb coming back with the skins both money and coaching reasons..
Gabbert's position with the Jags will be good for him though..at least he learn for some time.. 49ers pick was a surprise..Ithey passed on Quinn..now he's with the same division.. and that sucks. I wish Von Miller was the pick but Broncos made a solid pick @ #2. |

Not excited to watch Suh and Fairley go after the Broncos QB later this year. I'm guessing they rack up the sacks this year. If Detroit gets a decent corner or safety and Stafford stays healthy they could be for real this year. |

^ Yep, if Stafford can stay healthy, him and Calvin Johnson is gonna tear it up....
Javed Best was kind of a bust last year though....
If Best can kick it up a notch and Lions create a decent secondary, they are gonna be one of the teams to watch out for.....

hahaha it reminded me of the one guy in the fantasy football league who doesnt really prepare and panics so he picks someone way before they are needed, or like drafting a kicker before the last round haha
yea i think McNabb going to the Vikes is very likely and is a great move for both parties, i just still dont see Ponder doing well even if McNabb grooms him, i see Ponder as a Pennington, some talent, maybe a decent year but never a consistent QB or starter Gabbert as a backup for a year or two is gonna be really good for him, he has aaron rodgers potential but he must be groomed properly, i dont see him doing well if they force him to play right his rookie year and still hoping for the 49ers to draft Tyrod in the 3rd/4th round...Harbaugh has been talking with him a lot especially since they already met at the orange bowl, i see the 49ers making an early pick to grab him, he would be a nice pick for them for they need a strong leader on the offense

Suh and Fairley. What a combo on the defensive line. I really thought Detroit was going to go back to their old way and draft another reciever. I think Atlanta stretched way too far to get Julio Jones. I was shocked when Minnesota took Ponder. That one came out of left field.

man, Detroit sure have some mean @ss combo for their Dline..and don't they have vandenbosh too from titans before? he's a stud..too bad, their division is just too good..plus they have the clipper curse
zabisket, I hope you're wrong about Gabbert..if he turn out 2 be like Rodgers..then that would mean 49ers passed on 2 franchise QB!!! oh no! but I'm not sure about Tyrod..screw what the so called "expert" say..but Mallet..I hope they get to draft him..if not, then I'll settle with signing a vet..maybe a Carson Palmer..or Bulger..Palmer's just playing in a very tough division..face steelers and ravens defense twice/3x (playoffs) per year..you move Palmer to mediocre NFC West he can/will throw 25+ TDs! |

It's funny, entertaining and hard to believe so many people are saying good things about the Lions. Been a Lions fan my whole life and have watched the team play in 1 (yes, only 1) playoff game, which they lost. It is exciting to think about the havoc the D-Line can cause, Suh, Fairley, Vanden Bosch, Avril... whatta bunch.
The key will be a healthy Matt Stafford. Second will be a healthy Javid Best and another RB that can pound the rock.

that's cause you guys got my guy..lol..Von Miller!!!! he's a stud man legit! dumervil (if healthy 100%) and Von Miller..nice tandem of QB chasers right there..I read an article about Elway not being completely sold with Tebow..I hope they start tebow though, then that way you guys will release Orton..and my team will snag him.
I was hella surprised how my team didn't draft Quinn..but I guess the benign tumor they found in his brain scared them away..or the fact that he missed one full year of football due to suspension..Regardless, I'm optimistic that the player my team pick will blossom eventually. |

haha yea that would be bad for the 49ers if Gabbert turned out to be good, the only issue is the 49ers would have tried to play him this season and i think that would have hurt his potential...but enough of Gabbert, Mallet would be a good fit for the 49ers (probably a better fit than what tyrod would be, im just a big tyrod fan since he has my QB all 4 years of school and ive seen his leadership ability) the only probably i see with the 49ers actually drafting Mallet, is Harbaugh looks at more than just play, he wants players, especially a QB, with good character (which mallet doesnt have at all haha unfortunately) needless to say we will find out in less than 2 hours, im actually a lot more excited for the 2nd-3rd rounds than the 1st round
