I think how awesome it looks when I'm driving across the San Matteo bridge towards Half Moon Bay...that's about the extent of it for me.

Sorry Nedhead...I searched for "kiteboarding" and "kitesurfing" I didnt see it there.

I went out today with a trainer kite...it wasnt bad at all. Going on a real kite with the next coming weeks.

I've always wanted to try kiteboarding but it seems very expensive to get into. Any suggestions?

I would love to do this...looks like an absolute blast but wonder if my olde arse shoulders could take the pounding and pulling demanded by it.

No prob...the search sux, I wanted to get into kiteboarding, for snow, ended up having to wait for water, to get instruction, but there is always next year. Water doesn't interest me,(Unless you can troll a fishing lure, LOL), but I will learn to kite, then switch to snow come winter.

I have been kitesurfing for six years or so and have the desire to get into the sport much before that. I learned to kite in the summer in Florida which is really their off season and plagued by light winds.

The best way to get into the sport is find a good place for lessons to get you started and buy used gear for all your expensive pieces of equipment; kite, lines, bar, board.

Although I am on the snow a ton I still have yet to get out for a snow kite session. In the winter in Tahoe I have the pleasure of chasing good snow and don't have to chase the wind.

In the summer time kiting is my number one sport. The freedom you get from kitesurfing is hard to beat!

I tend to kite at Sherman Island out side of Sacramento. The wind there blows at smooth 20knots most days from June-September.

I came across this online free tutorial for those of who are interested. http://www.kitesurfingschool.org/howto.htm

It is created by some of the early pioneer of kiteboarding.
