Hey guys if you are looking to work out in Whistler Blackcomb we have heard that jobs will start to appear in Feb as people go home then. Your best bet to finding work is to check their own website as they have a link to jobs on it located at the bottom under employment. Hope this helps anyone that wants to work a season

Hey congrats on landing the position allowing you to work and play over in the west side. Its been awhile since this thread has started but relevant for me because I know how late I am in applying for positions. I really wanted to go over to the west side and work at a resort for the season and play in the snow. Still have hope though, there are still positions posted here and there but the wait is killing me!
Other options are to work at resorts in the States and why not over in Europe! That would be awesome. Anyone with some connections for me would be awesome! Wish me luck.

Hi Guys,
Does anyone know about good rentals (accomm) on Silver star? Wanting to go and do the season and work whilst there but may not get job before we go... So looking like we might have to find accommodation before we go.. and pay for it to start off with. Anyone know of any good sites to look at for renting houses on the mountain that are pretty cheap? Also does anyone have any tips or help to get a job on Silver Star apart from applying online & the working holiday companies.. eg. what our chances of getting a job there would be if we got there mid to late november? Cheers to all |

Buy your gear now while it's cheap and take it with you gear in Canada isn't that much cheaper than Australia. Us prices are heaps better.

did you do your interview through OWH? i had mine for whistler a week ago, waiting to hear back in the next couple of weeks. I'm thinking the same thing as you, but i hear staff get a discount of about 45% in some places so i'll probably grab my gear then when those sales roll through. what job did you apply for?

Yeah cool I might look into renting then:) Because I will have to sell it again before I leave. Wow stuff is expensive in canada? I just assumed it would be cheap due to all the snow and competitiveness! Not sure how much the discount is yet, hopefully its good! Did the guy give you an idea of how much rental was for the season?
Anyone know how much money was needed for the season approx? Cause we have to have 4000 in the bank, but I was thinking I wouldnt need too much of that if I'm earning money! Cheers guys

Phones use LCD displays, and the liquid doesn't react very well when it's cold out, resulting in stuck screens/wonky colours/general uselessness. It probably won't be an issue around Silver Star, they have pretty mild weather. Keep your phone in an interior jacket pocket and it'll be fine. Battery life is more of an issue when it's cold out. Your touchscreen has nothing to do with heat sensitivity, cold fingers will work just as well as warm fingers. Their function works by capacitive resistance. |

well i can only offer some help. i know retail stores in canada are pretty expensive so whatever discount u can find i would take it. as for the phone ? i have an HTC evo and I live in WI. you can definitely tell there is lag on those colder days. the other thing is, is that touch screens are heat sensative so if ur finger tips are cold ur phone wont react as fast

most likely staff discount will be cheaper than the retail stores because gear is expensive in canada.

Hey guys, I'm looking at working at silverstar resort (in B.C) at the end of the year, got an interview this friday. Was just wondering if locals or people who have done the same thing recommend buying a board and bindings from the resort with staff discounts or is it better to shop at another store from canada that has good deals? Any names would be great!
Another thing was do iphones work when your on the slopes or should I get a phone with a keypad? Due to it being too cold, I've heard different things! Also any other info on how much money you burned through or if you could survive on wages from a resort would be awesome:) My gf and I will be heading there. My gf will also need boots, so any good places to buy would be sweeeet,Any advice at all would be very much appreciated! Cheers
